The Royal Hotel

"We were impressed by the friendliness and excellent service provided by all staff. Our room (no 6) was comfortable. Just one note of warning: the entrance way to the bathroom is VERY low; it is a safety issue calling for attention. Dinners in the restaurant were well suited to hungry walkers: we enjoyed the food; it was well prepared and presented. Breakfasts were good; a bowl of fresh fruit and a better range of cereals would have been welcome. The hotel is in a very pleasant and peaceful rural setting."

"Lovely clean hotel right near the centre of Penrith. Quiet and comfortable room . Young children aren’t normally catered for but they were more than happy with us taking our own travel cot"
Troutbeck Inn

"I had a lovely stay at the Troutbeck Inn. The location is great, making it an ideal base for exploring the Lake District, with beautiful scenery and plenty of walking routes nearby. Blencathra and Helvellyn within 15 min drives. The staff were exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and attentive which made the experience feel warm and personal. The Inn and rooms were also very clean and well maintained. Room amenities were nice, and the pub food was great. Highly recommend the homemade pie. Overall a comfortable and enjoyable stay, and I would love to return when visiting the area again."

"Lovely hotel with great views and great breakfast. We couldn’t get parked in the hotel car park so had to pay for parking in the nearby car park but it was only a short walk away. Would definitely stay again."

"We were thankful we could book this stay after 6pm online and get into our room soon after I did have a similar experience as another reviewer who said the manager had a card machine promt for me to pay I told him we had payed via hotels.com and after checking he apologized I asked to borrow an iron and was told they don't have one as they were new owners/managers So take your own if you can Nice pint and open fire in there It seems most punters know one another well and we did feel a little out of ace but it wasn't a problem really The room was small and we did have issue with old water system making a horrendous noise every time the toilet flushes (and in the next room) I would stay again if caught short but otherwise I'd probably stay elsewhere Sorry"
