Casa Acquamarina
…for those who love the sea
A charming, exclusive maisonette apartment just 20 meters from the sea, featuring a 37 m² panoramic terrace overlooking the water. Designed entirely in Mediterranean style, the interiors are color-coordinated and decorated with great attention to detail and care.
Located only about 20 meters from the sea, this fully restored duplex apartment truly lives up to its name: Casa Acquamarina – no name could better describe the perfect harmony between stone and sea. Behind an antique restored entrance door and an artistically crafted white wrought-iron gate, a staircase lined with warm-toned stone leads up to the first floor.
At the landing, a ceramic rosone from Vietri sul Mare (Amalfi Coast) catches your eye – a hand-painted masterpiece by the renowned company Vietri Antico, embedded in the floor like a designer scarf, reflecting the colors of the sea. Through the entrance door – all interior doors are custom-made in white wood – you enter the living room, which opens onto a large balcony with a fantastic sea view.
Through an archway to the left, you enter the second bedroom, which features an elegant cream-colored sofa bed (with a good mattress) and therefore feels more like a relaxation or sitting room. When not dining on the terrace, you can also enjoy your meals here (a dining table and chairs are provided). To the right of the entrance is the main bedroom, featuring an elegant white iron bed decorated with marine knots – a true example of stile mediterraneo. All three rooms offer a beautiful sea view, with aquamarine Vietri Antico floor tiles throughout. The tasteful décor features sea-colored cushions creating a light and airy coastal ambiance.
Throughout the maisonette, you’ll find beautifully shaped stone wall lamps – another reminder of the arte mediterranea. The elegant bathroom is white, with decorative ceramic details (greche) featuring marine motifs. It includes a tiled vanity (as seen in fine hotels), crystal shelves, a semicircular shower (90x90 cm), laundry basket, washing machine, separate WC and bidet (divided by a white sliding door), and a window. Every detail has been carefully designed!
On the second floor, you’ll find a storage room and the kitchen. The floor and worktop are made of local stone. The kitchen is well equipped, with a large refrigerator and freezer, gas stove, and handcrafted wooden drawers and cabinets.
From here, you access a second wrought-iron and glass security door leading to the approximately 35 m² panoramic terrace, also paved with local stone. From this splendid spot, you can enjoy an unobstructed, breathtaking view of the sea and listen to the soothing sound of the waves. An Italian would say, una sensazione come su una nave in mezzo al mare – “a feeling like being on a ship in the middle of the sea.” On clear days, you can even see the lighthouse of Torre Canne. The refreshing blue shutters evoke memories of the typical maisons grecques of the Mediterranean.
The Surroundings
Marina di Ostuni has proudly received the Bandiera Blu (Blue Flag) for many years – a recognition of its excellent seawater quality – and in recent years also the “5 Sails” award (the highest rating) from Legambiente, Italy’s leading environmental organization.
Along this coastal stretch near Ostuni, you’ll find a series of seaside resorts. The picturesque old fishing harbor of Villanova forms the heart of the area. Here you’ll find cafés for breakfast, bakeries, fish restaurants, and pizzerias. While Villanova is not a glamorous resort, in summer you can spot several yachts anchored nearby – the crystal-clear sea attracts many discerning Italian and European visitors. August is the peak holiday season.
The coastline here is wonderfully varied. In the northern part of Marina di Ostuni, you’ll find long sandy beaches (such as Pilone and Rosa Marina), while further south (Lido Fontanelle, Costa Merlata) the landscape becomes more rugged, with alternating coves of sand and rock. Ancient lighthouses, bizarre rock formations, and bays framed by fragrant macchia mediterranea vegetation define this stunning coastal scenery. Not far from Ostuni, towards Brindisi, lies the Marine Nature Reserve of Torre Guaceto.
