"Nice small hotel close to the beach, town and bars etc. Nice pool and bar area and food is good (we had to pay extra for breakfast). Ideal for a short break, the hotel arranged turtle swimming for us and can organise many other trips, also Spa on site. We had travelled from Tissa and first impressions here was that Marissa was very touristy and the route to the “secret beach” is a rubbish strewn dirt track, however once we settled in, we enjoyed the area."

"Wonderful setting. We stayed in 'Pepper Cottage' and felt like we were in the jungle - but in a safe way. Best massages we had in Sri Lanka. Also the best breakfast - it was just so beautifully prepared. Location is set back off a main road - which you cannot hear - but this meant it was easy to walk to nearby restaurants."

"Overall, this hotel is very average. There were a few positive and negatives. I’ll start with the positives. After asking for water and toiletries, they were eventually provided. They let me shower after checkout and stored my bag, which was nice! The room is very average, but there was a gap above the door that didn’t shut all the way which let bugs in at night. "Great location, very close to the main beach, as well as turtle beach, parrot rock and the coconut tree hill. Plenty of good options for food on the main road right outside the hotel. Being close to the main road though makes it noisy during the day, as drivers love to blast the horn. The room was clean but also a bit basic. The bedsheets for example were too small for the double bed. AC worked well."

"Rooms large and comfortable with fans and air conditioners. Tv, Wi-Fi good. Kettle and fridge available. Nice pool. Buffet breakfast very good "

"The location of this property is excellent. A one minute walk gets you to the main road where there are shops and restaurants and then cross the street and you are in the beach. The room was big and clean but unfortunately I had to change rooms after my first night there. The fellow that runs the place is friendly and super helpful. There are lots of stairs in this property but the owner takes your luggage up to the room for you."

"There are 3 hotels in the Somerset group. This is away from the beach. Its up a very steep narrow concrete road. Its dark in the night and only 1 vehicle can go up or down this dark narrow road. The hotel staff are really nice. The rooms are a bit dated. The breakfast buffet was a joke as compared to hotels we have stayed in colombo. There was no buffet. Just a plate of fruit and eggs if you asked. Better stay is closer to the beach and somerset has a hotel right on tne beach"

"Staff/owners are lovely and so helpful. Parked our tuktuk at the bottom of the short path (2mins to the hotel from tuktuk) Wifi great. We upgraded during our stay as we was originally in a double room with no AC. It was far too small and hot. So we then paid to move upstairs. The room had AC and was bigger for our cases. Area is fine. Food and beach nerby. "

"We stayed for three nights with our 1 year old baby. The staff are excellent, so welcoming, and attentive and really enjoyed playing with our son. We had a sea view room, the view is beautiful, and the bathroom and shower were excellent - you can see the sea from the shower! The staff provided a lovely wooden cot which was perfect for our son. The cot fit next to the bed and the bed’s mosquito net covered the cot. Breakfast was lovely, and the staff were very accommodating of our child’s needs....

"Really nice and clean room but everything else where terrible, dirty and very old. The staff was laying in the few chairs and there were no place else to sit, not even in the small garden. We wantet a quiet vaccation but it was noicy from the mainstreet in front. We decided to leave again after 2 nights even we already paid for more."
