"Easy, secure parking. Naomi the receptionist was extremely welcoming and informative. Room was clean on arrival but we had to ask for more coffee pods. Towels were not changed during our 2 night stay, for eco purposes we were ok with that but if you are fussy about fresh towels daily you’ll probably have to ask. All restaurant staff were lovely, food was good but the menu does not change. Spa area very basic so a bit annoying that after a swim/sauna there are no showers so you have to walk back...

"What an incredible coincidence! We stayed at this same hotel in the same room 8 years ago! Last time, the little bed in the corner wasn’t necessary for a couple, but this time we came with our 2 year old son who loved sleeping in his first real bed! The new indoor pool is a luxurious addition since our 2016 stay and this time we splurged for the in-room breakfast, which was so copious and delicious that we haven’t been hungry for the rest of the day! More than worth the additional charge! "

"Just brilliant. Le Grand Monarque was recommended by a friend in the UK who stays there regularly. He really did us a favour as it is a fabulous and very interesting hotel with exceptional staff (especially Natalie on Reception). The parking is great value at €7 per night and the breakfast was delicious and nicely varied. Located in the centre of the small town of Azay-le-Rideu this hotel is an absolute gem. "

The room and views were particularly lovely with water, courtyard, garden, mill, bridge, live geese, roosters, and ducks to add to the charming rustic site. View the pics! It is all very lovely!"

"Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. The room was great: clean and comfortable. The location is a 10 minute walk across the river to the edge of downtown. So, factor that in if that matters to you. We would stay here again without question."
