I will start with the negative to end on a positive note.
This hotel is an old building with NO ELEVATOR. It is unsuitable for anyone with mobility issues or a heart condition. Our balcony suite was 82 steps up on the fifth floor (floor six in the US). I am giving it a one-star due to the lack of a clear warning about this.
The “suite” was an average room with no working station. The unshaded terrace had a southern exposure so it could not be used either on hot sunny days during peak temperatures (2PM to 6PM), or on rainy days. The bathroom had weak water pressure and it took three minutes to get hot water.
Now for the good. The spacious terrace featured a TRULY SPECTACULAR VIEW of the river. We didn't want to leave (not least because we would had to climb 82 steps to get back up.)
The staff were super friendly and helpful without exception. The complimentary port carafe in the room was a nice touch.
The location was a four-minute walk to Saint George’s Castle and a public elevator that saved seven floors of steps to town.
Hint: Skip the hotel breakfast. Plenty of nice eateries are nearby.
