We’ve just returned from 4 nights at Tangaer Cottage and couldn’t recommend it more! It was the perfect base for our family of four (children aged 3 and 10) and our dog.
The cottage was spotless, cosy and incredibly well equipped. Thoughtful essentials included milk, butter, bread, hot chocolate, coffee pods, cooking supplies, toiletries and dishwasher tablets. There were plenty of games, DVDs, books and a children’s book station. The kids loved the swings and slide, and the fire pit for toasting marshmallows was a highlight. I especially loved relaxing by the indoor fire. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the washer-dryer was a real bonus. All the beds were comfortable, with spacious rooms and plenty of storage.
Unfortunately, the jacuzzi wasn’t working due to a previous leak, but the kids still loved the big bath! The handles on the children’s bedroom drawers also kept coming off, although they remained usable.
After the storm, the WiFi was unreliable, but Iona and Geraint kindly offered access to their own WiFi and even their house next door when we needed to join a Zoom course. Such thoughtful hosts!
The cottage feels wonderfully remote, with beautiful, peaceful views. Wellies are essential for muddy field walks!
Co-op is only 3 miles away.
We visited Aberaeron, New Quay, Aberystwyth and Llanerchaeron, all of which we’d recommend. They were very dog-friendly, and crabbing at Aberaeron harbour was great fun!
We’ve had a chilled week and would happily return!
