"Beautiful vista, food was great (strongly recommend doing a dinner reservation AND a breakfast reservation) owner was extremely kind and generous. He spoke better English than I spoke Japanese, which made it extremely easy to meet in the middle. 10/10 experience."
"We enjoyed our stay at susuranso,
The staff were so helpfull , even organised tickets for komagatake ropeway for us.
The hotel is very clean and has great views of the surrounding mountains."
"Decent stay. Staff was very nice. Indoor Osen was pleasant. Rooms had a gorgeous view, but bed was not very comfortable. Good stop for Nakasendo trail, but expensive for what it is in my opinion. "
"It was within comfortable walking distance from
INAKITA station. It was the only available closest hotel when i booked for a last minute trip here a few days before. I found a familiar restaurant, SUKIYA nearby where I had my delicious lunch. Happen to stumble upon a cosy McDonald’s when I was exploring the area near Ina park where the cherry blossoms were in full bloom! There is a direct bus to the Takato Castle Ruins at Inakita Station. "Our stay at Byaku was one of the most memorable experiences on our Japan trip. The hotel exemplifies Japanese artistry in so many ways, from hospitality to cuisine to design. It was a unique opportunity to stay in an historic region in a beautifully renovated historic Japanese structure. "
Renovated Traditional House in Narai-juku
Exclusive one-group rental
10/10 Excellent
"Very nice and gracious host. Beautiful traditional house. Very clean, we all loved it. Town is beautiful, very charming. Only complaint is that everything in the town closes at 6pm. No fault of the property owner, just writing this as a warning for everyone else."
"Great option for your Nakasendo trail experience. Beautiful town. Be sure to walk around the temples and find the weeping cherry blossom (I think this was the name)."
"Our experience was wonderful. We had almost no idea what to expect at Kamanuma - we just wanted to experience a traditional style Japanese Onsen and visit the beautiful Kiso valley. From the moment the chef/co-owner (brothers) picked us up at the train station, and all through the stay, the staff were very kind and helpful. Their focus is on a relaxing stay, with quiet tatami matt rooms, a peaceful tea-stocked central lobby, and separate hot/cold baths for men and women. Baths open all day to onsen guests. What really blew us away was the veritable feast they presented for both dinner (at 6) and breakfast (at 8). A dozen items were served at each meal, comprised of local fish, prepared produce, and sake, as well as soup, miso, pickles, rice, natto, seaweed salad, pork, red deer, omelette, and more (these were summertime selections).
We were the only non-Japanese there (they said they have primarily Japanese clientele, and learned and enjoyed it so much. Highly recommend!"
