Beautiful beach home in port village walkable to multiple fabulous restaurants
We visited Kimolos during our first trip to Greece for five nights in July 2022. The host family has lovingly restored and designed their home with class, character, and comfort. The space was perfect for our family of four.
The beach-front location was amazing for a daily swim (or two), with upper-level porches for a quiet getaway, or the main-level patio for boat and people-watching and connecting with locals. The living, dining and kitchen areas were up to date but with classic Greek flair, and the bedrooms and baths were all very clean and comfortable. There was even maid-service mid-week to provide fresh linens (she was lovely - so friendly, bringing us local breads for our lunch).
There was a grocery just up the beach for easy access, and there were fantastic restaurants just steps away in either direction. The kitchen two doors down had fantastic coffee, breakfast and lunch (with beachside seating, or porch service from the very friendly owner), or the bakery/confectionery three doors down offered delicious coffee and breakfast as well as amazing homemade gelato, frozen treats and traditional Greek as well as French deserts. In the opposite direction were two exceptional restaurants for lunch or dinner, and a bar for afternoon refreshments.
The historic town center is a short walk (or bus ride) up the hill for experiencing “the castle” ruins, churches, shopping and additional restaurants. The bus (or car/motorbike rental) also takes you around the island to various beaches with loungers/umbrellas and bar/cafe services.
The hosts, Poly & Stamatis, could not have been friendlier! They provided email outreach before our trip, with suggestions on ferry service and bus/cab options when coming from Athens to Milos to Kimolos. They met us at the port on our arrival, left us a map with recommended beaches and restaurant suggestions, as well as wonderful instructions on the house. They also assisted during the week with our tour to visit other parts of the island.
We would highly recommend this property, and hope we can return again one day. This property, and the wonderful people (and swimming and food!) in this neighborhood, all made our trip a wonderful experience.
