Disappointed at This Holiday Inn Express – Not the IHG Standard We Know and Love
We’ve been loyal to the IHG brand for years and often choose Holiday Inn Express for its comfort, consistency, and excellent service—whether in Phoenix, Texas, Oregon, or Washington. This location was our second stay in 8 months, and while check-in was smooth and early check-in was kindly accommodated, our overall experience was let down by one disappointing interaction.
On the evening of Friday, June 6, 2025, we politely inquired at the front desk about the possibility of accessing a small breakfast item to-go early the next morning, as we had a 7:15 AM event. We’ve never had an issue with this at any other Holiday Inn Express—staff have always been happy to offer something simple like a yogurt or muffin to help accommodate early travelers.
Unfortunately, the staff member we spoke with gave a long, overly detailed, and dismissive response that made our request feel like an inconvenience. It wasn’t about the food—it was about the attitude. A simple, “Let me see what I can do” would’ve gone a long way.
We travel internationally and choose Holiday Inn Express because of its reputation for service and value, especially when breakfast is included. We love the brand, but this interaction didn’t reflect the hospitality we’ve come to expect. Regrettably, we won’t be returning to this location.
