"Advertised as a smoke free environment, however on entering to check in a strong smell of cigarette smoke was immediately noticed. In the accommodation area a smell of smoke from the hotel area was noticed along with cigarette smoke smell in the bedding linen, pillows, curtains. There were people smoking in the gaming area and at the bar."

"If you choose to stay at the Grand Hotel Rockdale I urge you to consider that decision very carefully. At 4am on the night I was staying there the fire alarm was activated. What emerged was that it was by a guest unable to access their room. The reason why they did this was because it was a young female traveller and there was no phone number displayed for contacting the management - she had felt vulnerable. When the fire brigade arrived, it then became apparent that there was no staff member present on the premises. Effectively the guests had been locked in and abandoned for the night. If you are locked out or have issue accessing your room after it is closed then you are on your own. The fire brigade tried contacting the owner, without success and eventually found someone an hour and a half away. Some people who had left rooms in a hurry when the alarm sounded remained lock out and missed their flights - sleeping on the stairs. The rooms have no information displayed about emergency exit routes or a contact number. On arrival no guest was given any contact sheet with such information. Eventually, those who could return to their rooms were allowed to do so - however about an hour later the police then entered the hotel and were banging on doors trying to see if they could find a staff member. The issue would have been equally concerning if someone had been taken ill or needed to contact a staff member during the night Wholly irresponsible & management made no apology in AM"

"The room was smaller than we anticipated which is not the fault of Peakhurst, just noting. When we arrived there was not a clear location to check in. It was only 730pm and were told in the contact information that it would still be open for check in. We went to the restaurant to ask and they contacted someone to come open up the check in location. There was trivia happening in the restaurant so no parking availability. The elevator wasn’t working so we had to lug heavy baggage up several flights of stairs. "

"Rooms are actually as pictured. Spacious, clean and modern. Staff always seem friendly p skin condition so the next time you tried everything skin skin condition whether that has pigmentation acne or your child’s eczema just won’t seem to settle or they won’t take their medication ex-husband a divorce myself through a divorce and just said did they ever get tired of the drive and I said absolutely some people might have a dynamic. "We had little interaction with the staff and what we had was acceptable. The place has had no maintenance in years and everyting seemed to be broken or missing including soap dishes in shower toilet roll holder and bathroom access door. The toilet required multiple flushing. We would not stay there again."

"The staff was great, the room was as advertised....and spotless with all kinds of toiletries, coffee & kettle set up and a TV. Super comfortable bed and a short train ride to the airport! Also, the attached restuarant and gaming parlor had great food and nice people! I'll stay again! Say 'Hi" to Dean and the folks at the bar."
