"The location is fantastic for first time visitors. Everyone was pleasant and the view was amazing. The room was better than we ever expected. The two things that I didn’t like had nothing to do with The Whaler. One was ocean was so loud at night you couldn’t sleep with window open. That’s all mother nature at its purest. The kids playing in pond and disturbing the koi and frogs. Felt bad for the creatures, thats just parents not telling kids to be respectful of the environment! Overall, The Whaler and all of Maui made me think of relocating just for all its beauty from the nature to the kind people everywhere we went!!! Mahalo isn’t enough!!!!!"

"The room was clean. Had a nice size balcony. Staff was friendly. Property located on the beach. In our villa the shower stall with the half glass door was very messy. Drinking water is free but it requires an acquired taste. The pool was a bit on the small side."

"Nice hotel for a family with kids. 1 only for adult total 3 good size swimming pools . Nice water slide. Room clean service is good. fee for parking $50. beach chairs and umbrella $150. Location is great. Close to several shopping malls and restaurants."

"Location was beautiful! You only have to walk a short distance for some beach because directly out front of the hotel has coral reefs. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Our refrigerator was not getting cold so they had maintenance come right out to check and confirmed it wasn’t working properly. They offered to move us to another room for the remainder of our stay. The ONLY real complaint is that the rooms are priced the same but they do not have comparable amentities. I only know this because we went with 2 other families so we saw their rooms (and when they offered to switched out our room because of the fridge) But overall would stay there again in a heartbeat!"

"We moved our stay at the Papakea resort. It was close to lots of things, very clean, and our room had a beautiful view. The light went out in our bathroom and the staff were quick to come and fix it which was great. A couple things that could be better with our specific room and not with the resort overall is that there was very little kitchen equipment and zero Tupperware containers. Lucky we weren’t planning to do very much cooking but it would’ve been a challenge if we had. The knives were super dull and had rust on them but we made due. Overall this is a great resort and we would come back but these are a couple things that if addressed would make this unit even better!"
