Dormy Inn is a great base for foreigners looking to explore Izumo. It’s located right next to the JR station so easy to access, with 7/11 close by. The rooms are small and simple, but the main perks are the onsen, sauna and massage chairs! They also offer free ramen at night and free amenities on ground floor (eg razor, toothbrush, coffee, water)

It was the first time for me to stay in Dormy Inn, a renowned chain hotel in Japan. Its location immediately next to Izumoshi JR Station was very convenient, and the room offered a great view overlooking the town. The breakfast and nighttime ramen were very well-received, and I loved how they promoted local ingredients and specialties during breakfast. The salad dressing they recommended from Izumo was indeed delicious and I made a point to grab two bottles to bring home. The room was very well-maintained and I appreciated the separate living and washing areas of the room.

We initially thought Dormy Inn would be a "low level" hotel, since it was so close to the station, and was a big chain. But oh well, it was pretty cheap. But boy we were wrong. Dormy Inn is a very, very nice hotel. First, the room sound isolation is very good, so you do not hear your neighbors, the trains, the city noise, or anything else. Its the 4th hotel me and my friend were staying at in our month long Japan trip, and this was the most quite and best room by far. Also, air conditioning was working, so the room was quite and cool - best sleep ever! The onsen at the 11th floor "Yakumo no Yu" was also way above expectations. The sound of wind through the building, and the gentle ambient music, really made it feel like a bath between the clouds. There was a TV in the sauna, which wasn't for me, but the sauna itself was very good. Breakfast was fine, nothing fancy, but nothing to really complain about either. Staff was also friendly, smiling, and helpful. I can strongly recommend Dormy Inn. P.S. there was free, good ice cream after the bath ♥️

Highly value-for-money! The experience was worth every dollar paid. Service staff were polite and helpful. If you are an onsen-goer, its onsens are some of the best. 4 pools, 2 indoor (1 is a cold bath) and 2 outdoor. There is also a sauna. There is free ice cream after onsen and supper every night! Ask for Oomori if you would like a large bowl. Free washing machine with detergent too. Most importantly, it is just beside Izumo JR Station. Highly recommended!
