We were really lucky to come across this hotel. Initially, we were attracted by cost and location. But the hotel was so much better than we had anticipated. Partly through our interactions with hotel personnel, who were wonderful, but mostly on the basis of the sheer charm of the hotel. A lovely room, attractive lounges for relaxation, an excellent breakfast. Nowadays many hotels tend to be on the overly functional side--indeed, drab. The Niles, on the other hand, was a lovely experience. The only negative I might mention is that the street it is on is very narrow--especially for cars and trucks that need to get about--and that it's a bit of an uphill climb until you get to the main street, which is a stone's throw away from the Grand Bazaar and the excellent tram system. When we return to Istanbul, this hotel will be our first choice.
