There is no road access so we rented a boat—the only way to get here—through Vik Adventures and the journey itself was part of the adventure, a scenic 25 to 45-minute ride on the fjord from Vikøyri, depending on conditions.The home itself is a quiet, rustic retreat with some modern updates, preserved to maintain its historical features as part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We spent our time exploring the area, hiking to the top of the mountain where the waterfalls begin, and enjoying the wild berries. We boated to Balestrand for dinner one night. Every evening, we'd sit on the dock listening to the sounds of the falls. This is a perfect escape for anyone looking for an authentic, off-the-beaten-path experience.
