"A really great hotel within easy walking distance of the shops and eateries. Friendly staff, tastt breakfast, our room was comfortable and well-equipped with comolimentary G&T! We had a balcony over looking the gardens and we used the bijou space when we arrived, all rather lovely."

"We have stayed at this hotel several times & as usual staff were friendly & hotel lovely. Room was immaculate with everything we needed. Breakfast delicious with good choice of food. Only slight issue was poor shower. Wouldn’t stop us returning though !"

"Nice hotel. Great seating outside on the lake and in conservatory- would be better if more seating in conservatory. Pub/bar area itself is very dark and dingy. Seats outside the bar area were nice but not enough - some of the drinks were dear -£16 for a large wine! Food in brasserie was nice and staff nice too. Parking free at the hotel and very close to the lake boats snd train. Lovely place near the lake and would stay there again if in area."

"Amazing staff, great location and parking The food is average and the menu is very limited, the room (19) has been updated recently but was right by the the main road and a noisy extract fan on the floor below which came on at 4.15am every morning. Overall it’s a nice big hotel that has been in the process of renovation for the last few years. It would be a much better experience if they could expand the menu and quality of the food."

"A wonderful stay yet again at the salutation hotel. The location of the hotel makes it an ideal stay to visit Ambleside. Perfect to park the car when you arrive and no need to use it again for your stay. Having a spa within the hotel is a bonus and the standard of cleanliness throughout the hotel is exceptional. We stayed in a room at the front of the hotel , which yes there is a little street noise , but nothing you wouldn’t expect staying in a town centre , and certainly didn’t keep you awake at night - in fact it was probably one of the highlights of our room - people watching below and the beautiful fells in the distance. Breakfast is a real treat , excellent selection of hot and cold food and drinks , there is everything you could possibly want for breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff - everyone greats you with a smile and are most helpful. Having visited the Lake District from childhood staying at campsites, lodges, cottages and b&b’s , I can honestly say this is my favourite place to stay. Thank you to the team at The Salutation Hotel , hopefully we will return soon."
