"A great welcome at the bar, with the lovely landlady already pouring my next beer as I walked up—now that's service! The room was clean and tidy, and the bed was really comfortable. A very pleasant stay overall."

"The room 214 was beautiful but unfortunately next to the kitchen extractor vent which kept going all night very loud The staff said it couldn’t be turned off It would stop for 10 minutes then start off again It needs to be addressed If not in that room it would all have been fine"

Without exception, the team of people running the accommodation and the adjacent pub and restaurant were friendly, efficient and committed to making our stay enjoyable. We had both breakfast and evening meal in the pub restaurant - the breakfasts were good, and the quality of the evening meals was far better than we expected from this type of establishment."

"Lovely country pub, beautifully & tastefully updated, short/ simple but great menu at mid pricing. Very friendly staff just a bit slow/ distracted at checkin and not much information on breakfast etc or local places to go. Room a little dated , was originally nicely done up 15 years ago, but now some stained grout and broken sink in bathroom, and wallpaper/ lamps need a makeover. Still loved my stay- comfortable, safe, peaceful. Nice shower, fluffy large towels, nice shower gel. Provided...

"Easy to find and helpful staff when we arrived early . Light flickering in toilet but sorted by staff straight away . Found previous occupants half eaten Chinese takeaway still in the bin in the room which wasn’t great . Reported to reception all very apologetic but should really happen if housekeeping being done throughly . Maybe they just had an off day . Colleague in separate room only had one towel in the room, no bathmat and no hand towel but as a sole occupant she decided not to complain...

"Nice spacious room. Air conditioning in the room struggled in the heatwave but eventually became reasonably comfortable. Good hot and cold buffet breakfast."

"We always love staying at Chiseldon House. The rooms are well kept and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Even though a little expensive, the food is also very good. We stay there often and look forward to our next visit."
