Great place, interesting history. Really well refurbed, warm, clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money.
Brilliant location at edge of Kielder Forest and in Dark Skies zone for viewing the cosmos. Ten min stride from Bellingham village with all necessary amenities you would require.
Last minute booking, everything we needed in the shared fully equipped kitchen.
Warm & comfy large beds .clean En-suite rooms
Tea & coffee facilities .
Would definitely stay again
Arrived for a two night stay in the Brown Rigg Guest Rooms. All I can say is that our check in was so easy, the owners so helpful and the accommodation was excellent in every way! We are looking forward to returning to Brown Rigg again when the weather is better and the skies are clearer so we can take advantage of the Stargazing pack! Despite the rain and the winds gusting at 50mph we couldn’t have been more warm and cosy! Absolutely recommended place to stay…..
Arrived at the lodge and was greeted by 2 lovely hosts who showed us to our room and was very helpful and told us some very interesting facts about the lodges (an all girls school built before the ww2 I do believe ).
The room was very clean and beautiful inside and the small window behind the bed overlooked the forest behind which was beautiful.
Overall very quiet, the only bit of noise is people walking to and from their rooms as they are so close together but we was so tired we eventually fell asleep in the beautiful and very comfy bed.
There was a shared kitchen but we shared the oven with another couple of guests and took the food back to our rooms. There was a table and chairs and plenty of cutlery too.
This was a get away for me and my boyfriend and we are already planning a trip back with our kids as there will be lots of things to do with the kids and a spacious court yard where they could play safely
Thankyou for a pleasant stay

We stayed in a guest room which was very nice. My only complaint was the shared kitchen struggled to cater for the number of guests and a queue was needed to use it
We came to stay at Brown Riggs to complete the Hadrian's Wall 25k and it only added to the experience. Adrian and Sue were so kind and generous plus, the room was so comfortable. 10/10 would recommend
The room was immaculate, couldnt praise it any higher if i could, there was everything you wanted there waiting and eco friendly options. The place itself was gorgeous and serene. Loved the history you got in the guest book, that was a very interesting read. The staff was amazing and sorted us out with our room very quickly. We really enjoyed our stay here and would love to come again. Cannot recommend enough. Thank you so much.
We were very happy with the room, warm and fresh. A nice bathroom and shower. TV was included. The bed was very comfortable. Liked that you can download an app on your phone, which contains a guidebook containing lots of helpful information. Plenty of parking space outside and easy access to the main road. Extra pots of milk were provided for free.
Bit of confusion which part of the site I was on (caravan/camping is separate business) but once sorted Hazel looked after everything very nicely. Lodges were very clean and tidy - enormous bed and duvet! Continental style breakfast with plenty of options was delivered and left outside the door as arranged so all in all an excellent stay. Quite a walk to the village but was aware of that so no probs there either. Would make a great place for a real 'back in the day' adventure holiday for kids!
A really good YHA hostel-style accommodation option in the countryside. Excellent level of cleanliness, decent sized room and good bathroom. The best water pressure I've experienced in any accommodation in the UK.
Good well equipped kitchen and nice to have a picnic area outside.
A good base for exploring Northumberland National Park.
The only negative was the mattress in our room was a bit saggy.
Fantastic location, and the rooms are good value, clean and well equipped.
The check in was somewhat chaotic however that was due to staff shortage, and they failed to let us know that there was a fully equipped kitchen that guests could use or a games room.
A short walk into the village which has something for eveyone.

Liked: Cleanliness, amenities
Disliked: Staff & service
Room was very clean and had some lovely features such as the touch pad shower for perfect temperature control. Bed was very comfy and all round a nice room. Room was spoiled because we didn’t get much sleep as all rooms surround the car park so we’re constantly woken up by cars or people gathering right outside.
What made this such a negative stay was that we overheard the host actually talking about us right outside our room to other guests which was incredibly rude and unnecessary. Though other staff members were very lovely and friendly such as the caretaker who spoke with us both mornings and was very nice.
We decided to have an overnight stop here on our way to the Northumberland coast and it proved to be a great choice with a super large, comfortable bed and a powerful shower. Lots of outside seating to enjoy the scenery too. It was cloudy on the night we stayed, but as this accommodation is located in the Dark Sky Park the potential for fantastic night skies is definitely there! We didn't have breakfast, so can't comment on that, but did request extra milk for tea and that was delivered straight away. This location is near to Kielder Forest Park which was stunning and is a short walk into Bellingham village on the North Tyne river too. A little gem of a place that we will definitely return to.
