Stayed in one of their attached cottages comfortable. Staff were attentive and polite food was very good. Continental breakfast was acceptable. If staying more than one night there is no room service so dishes had to be washed in the hand basin and dried with a bathroom towel.
It’s a picturesque old pub with an extensive garden area and a large parking space. It’s quite classy indoors and we were impressed by both the sophisticated dinner menu and the food itself - very good.We were welcomed warmly and shown to the Cowdray Room, which opens on to the beer garden. That wasn’t a problem as the pub closes at 10, and then it was an advantage as we were able to sit outside for breakfast with the place to ourselves. The pub will cook breakfast but not until 10.30 am, so there was a generous continental breakfast in the room for us - including fresh milk and juice, cereal and sticky buns etc. The only downsides were the atrocious WiFi and mobile signal, but that’s just a fact of geography; and the location at the intersection of two busy roads, which meant for a constant traffic noise in the outdoor area. It didn’t bother us in the room, though. Would gladly stay there again.
