Hotel Brunnenhof is quiet and clean and provided everything I needed for a week-long stay. Abdullah, who takes care of the housekeeping duties, was fantastic. My room had a small porch leading out into the back yard, where there is a picnic area.
One crucial point: The English-language description of the hotel on Expedia has not been updated since the pandemic, and it needs to be. The hotel is now run in a (mostly) contact-free manner and no longer provides breakfast.
In order to get into the hotel, you will need to phone the staff to get a code, which you enter into a lockbox in order to get your key. The instructions outside the hotel door are exclusively in German, which was fine for me (I speak German well) but may confuse other foreign guests.
I do not have international roaming on my phone, and I made the mistake of going to the hotel first before buying a SIM card—which led to some comedy when I discovered I had to phone the hotel in order to get my key! (A local café owner helped out—I highly recommend the Eiscafé am Obertor.) If you are in a similar situation, get your SIM card before you go to the hotel.
Once I actually got into the hotel, the week I spent there was pretty much flawless.
