The location is hard to beat! We were in walking distance of Artist's Point and several places to eat. Staff was friendly at check in. Continental breakfast was well-stocked. Obviously the building is old so that comes with its quirks, but we still really enjoyed the stay.
Room was clean, parking was great, it was just what we needed for an overnight stay. Frontdesk was very helpful and informative on check in.

Our room had a nice view of the lake. The room was clean but maintenance was unprofessional. We had to park in the street and skipped the breakfast, electing to go to the bakery around the corner. The location was good.
We stayed at the Shoreliner many years ago. It was wonderful to see how well maintained it was. A lovely location on Lake Superior, with a large deck over looking the Lake.
Very restful and peaceful. You will love it.

The lake view was great. The sound of the waves was awesome to sleep by but unfortunately the property is quite dated and they had some significant roof leakage and had a moldy smell
Such a cozy and home feel hotel very clean, smart tv and you get to hear the waves of Lake Superior when you go to sleep. W hotel, W staff, W location will recommend to everyone and will be back.
Room was dirty with old napkins under the bench and a baggie behind the nightstand. The mirror and carpet were dirty and stained. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Grest location in town, continental breakfast was good. Carpet in room needed deep cleaning and room windows needed cleaning. Overall it was ok.
Good location and great view but the place is not maintained or cleaned. Carpet was stained, paint peeling, windows don’t close, walls stained and light not working well in the room. Breakfast was ok. Staff were nice.
Wonderful location with beautiful views of the lake. Within walking distance of everything in town.
When we arrived at 3:15 there was a sign on the door saying that check-in is at 4, no exceptions. We were also in desperate need of facilities but were greeted with a less-than-friendly person telling us she couldn’t help us with anything. When we came back to check in at 4:30, there was an inevitable line and everyone had to wait quite a while to be checked in. This check in time is not listed on the website.
People may want to know that there are six steps to get inside and then more than 15 steps up to the 2nd floor.
This place is poorly maintained in just about every way. If you are a stickler for cleanliness, this is not your spot. They have good water pressure and plenty of hot water.
Positive: It is right on Lake Superior in downtown Grand Marais. It has a great deck on the lake. Very peaceful.
Negative: there was no AC, so windows open on 2nd floor which would have been okay, but there was a way for people to get on the adjacent roof, and I couldn't rest thinking about that possibility, so closed the windows. One window had no latch. There were no "safety" latches on the windows that would let them be partially open. There was trash behind both nightstands, hair in the sink drain catch, hair on the bathroom door.
The room was clean, staff were very nice, helpful and accommodating. Breakfast was very good . Parking is adequate.
We like that it’s right on the lakefront and in town and stores are walkable.
Everyone we met/talked to were friendly and gave useful information as it’s our first time in this area, wish we could stay more than a night!
Inn is located perfectly for walking anywhere in Grand Marais. Patio on the lake is wonderful! Room was okay….. needed a deep cleaning. Bed was very lumpy. There was no air conditioning. Staff was very nice!

This place is kinda old and rundown, but the location is AMAZING. The rooms are pretty beat up and desperately need a refresh (My lakeview room had no AC, and only one functioning window that was splattered with a little seagull poo.) But you know what? Didn't care! I spent most of my time walking around (almost everything fun in town is walking distance from the hotel) or hanging out on the hotel deck overlooking Superior - which is fantastic. The breakfast and other amenities are pretty basic, but functional, and the staff is friendly and helpful.
It was comfortable enough. It looked like some improvements were happening. It is somewhat dated which is not a problem but our room really smelled like cat urine. Location was fantastic. It could use a sprucing up but everyone was nice and the views were amazing.
