luxury period house nice and comfortable. It is quite small and cosy
But very very quite so guests tended to talk very low and the atmosphere was a bit stiff , nice to go if your looking for a bit of peace and quiet. The breakfast: I had pancakes off the hot food menu, they were inedible , soggy and burnt . continental buffet small but what was on offer was fresh. breads were not nice, cheap sliced pan toast, and plain soda bread , no other healthy options . No tea or coffee making facilities in the rooms which was very disappointing, reception appeared friendly but very fake and put on . However the rest of the staff could not do enough for you.
Amazing hotel, 1st class style and service 2nd to none. We ate at the Duck restaurant and the food was fantastic. The room was gorgeous, the gardens are beautiful, the staff couldn't be more obliging. Wonderful.
Just home from a fab. Few days in Marlfield.
A perfect relaxing break ,
Breakfast amazing,
Staff very friendly as always,
Food in the Duck amazing.
Thank to Everyone for a wonderful stay.
Amazing hotel with loads of comfort and charm. Great for our 5yr old. All the staff was top notch and beyond friendly. We lived this place and food was excellent too. Be sure to meet George the peacock and hunter the dog!
We had a really lovely stay. The staff are wonderfully friendly and efficient while being nice and relaxed as well. Between the lovely walks, excellent food and relaxed and welcoming atmosphere I would have to give Marlfield 10/10. We will be back.
We loved everything, especially the old world feel, the wonderful receptionist and the food.
Because we both like to swim, it would have been nice if there was a leisure pool but it was not a major issue.
We would love to stay there again soon.
The hotel and staff were exellrnt. The food was fantastic. My only issue was that the room was way to hot. The room was beatiful and the bed compfy. Couoldnt fault this hotel.
A wonderful stay. Great location. Lots of character. Beautiful gardens and woodland. Very comfortable. Amazing food in both restaurants. All topped by enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff.
Amazing short stay. Fabulous boutique location which is warm and welcoming from your first step through the front door until you leave. Staff we're great always there when there but never 'in your face' and the restaurants have a great selection of food both festive and non-festive.
If you want a relaxing, sit back beside a warm fire with a nice drink reading the paper and soaking the festive time of year, then this is the place.
I couldn't recommend it enough.
We had an all too short a stay ( one night) with lunch on the sunny patio, excellent helpful staff. We will return to get the full experience of a beautiful hotel. many thanks to all on the day and congratulations on winning three awards on Monday 18th September.
We had a wonderful time with terrific food at "Duck" - fabulous informal restaurant in the former stables. Room was very nicely appointed and comfortable. Beautifully maintained and decorated hotel with many personal touches by the proprietors and thoroughly enjoyable - Gorgeous gardens....
Beautiful characterful hotel. Room and bed were smal but beautiful furnished and spotlessly clean. Staff are very professional courteous but friendly and good fun at the same time. A final word on the breakfast - nothing different about the content of the irish breakfast but the quality of the ingredients and the manner in which it was prepared made it absolutely delicious- even the toast was special. Can't recommend enough for a quiet gentle and relaxed stay.
Albeit I stayed the one night and continued on for a business meeting. I found the hotel and staff to be so very kind and sincere (did not appear put on). Everything is done tastefully with a sense of luxury. A credit to the area, and for me the icing on the cake would be an in room tea/coffee selection, some of us are up in the wee hours when the kitchen is not open.
Lovely tranquil setting, we went there for a chilled out weekend with some sight seeing and this was the perfect hotel. The gardens and nearby beach were gorgeous and the meal we had in the hotel was amazing.
We stayed for one night and even when things did not quite go as expected the staff were on top of it and rectified the situation, to the point that we really look forward to going back and could not fault the hotel in any way. You get what you pay for. The staff were nothing short of excellent and the service was second to none, and I should know as I manage a customer service centre. Nothing was too much for them and everything was done quickly. Nothing seemed to trouble them and everything was done with a smile. I have travelled all over the world and stayed in extremely well known hotels and I could honestly say that this was the best experience I have ever had in a hotel. This place should be on everyone's bucket list.
Marlfield is the perfect winter getaway. Very easily accessible from Dublin, excellent food and lovely bedrooms, reataurant and drawing rooms. The new restaurant called "the Duck" in converted outhouses is a great addition with a good all day variety of food on offer, whether you just want a bowl of soup or a full meal. Fine dining in the main house is top class.
