When we arrived they showed us to the wrong room. They allocated a room with one double bed for 4 people. The replacement room was dirty and had a terrible mouldy smell. When is was bed time we found dead ants under the pillows and blankets. The tv also only had one canal. There was no WiFi in the room as promised on the web. When we enquired we were told the room is to far from the office to use WiFi. I have to give a huge compliment to all the staff for their great service.

The Hotel is good except that the room have lots of dust and when they clean the rooms they don't clean it proper for an example the draws there was an old school book and they where no book to phone Reception. Aircon was only on cold.

A lovely place, very friendly even late at night, and all well worth it. It was recommended to us to definitely request their delicious omelettes for breakfast. They are, apparently, in the process of changing their menus and we would implore them to bring back the omelettes! We will be back to stay.

Quaint country hotel

Quaint country hotel with modern facilities; very central in George - one block from centre of town; beautiful common areas; room was in excellent condition with all modern amenities; breakfast was excellent; Wifi worked fine, but was not broadband. Parking area was not behind a fence but was very close to the hotel buildings. I would stay here again.

The put us in a ground floor room facing the street with a sign on the window saying to keep it closed for our own safety. The room smelled musty like it had not been aired so we asked to move as leaving the window open at night was not an option. 2nd room upstairs better but very cramped.

Had a good stay staff were friendly and helpful, only problem I did have is the water pipes in the roof area of the hotel make a terrible noise so does interrupt sleep in the early hours of the morning. Otherwise no problems with the Hotel and stay.

Good, Clean, Friendly, and Comfortable.

Checking in was quick and easy with room available when we arrived at 16:00. Friendly staff. Clean comfortable room, decent bed and good size shower. Breakfast was average hot breakfast with eggs/omelettes made to order. Wi-Fi is mediocre as you have to log in through a website every time with a complicated code. Checkout took some time as there was a dispute about Breakfast. Seems Hotels.com did not indicate to Oakhurst Hotel "Free Breakfast" was part of price paid. Waiting for this to get resolved as I insisted on not paying the extra R500 odd. Clerk was understanding of my view and said they will contact Expedia.com, as my booking came in through them. Clerk also eluded to the fact that the day before a group of tourist were checking in and communication to Oakhurst Hotel only indicated one room, not two as through their booking. This shows bad communication between service provider and Hotels. Will stay here again if price is right and inclusive of Breakfast.

Convenient for one night stopover in George

George doesn't have a lot going for it as a holiday destination, but the Oakhurst provided a convenient place to stay on our Garden Route trip, as we wanted to visit the transport museum and ride on the power van.

Very friendly staff

The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. We were not that impressed with the room. We had a bath in the bathroom that we did not enjoy, but to be fair, we did not ask for a room with a shower. The rooms with the shower have been upgraded. The location is very good in George and there is secure parking which is a bonus.

Terrible, no respect for the guests

The worst place I've ever stayed at! At 8:30am we were woken up by loud construction in the room above us. I went outside to complain. No apology or action taken, except to say that "they'll be done soom". Not the proper response! What kind of a hotel does construction at 8:30am?! And by the time we checked out at 10am they still weren't done - 1.5 hours isn't "soon". Also the pool is disgusting and they didn't even remove the pool cleaner robot (it was turned off), making swimming in it impossible. Also, the Internet access they give you is just 50MB, and didn't work at all from 10pm to 9am on our last night.
