Before that it had been combined with the benefice of Carnaby. The ecclesiastical parishes remained separate until 1979 when the new parish of Barmston with Fraisthorpe was created and united with that of Skipsea with Ulrome. The civil parish of Fraisthorpe with Auburn was made part of the new Barmston civil parish in 1935.
