Very important: there is a long steep staircase to the reception and another long steep starcase to a room. You will need to haul your bag up two long flights. No elevator. Not a problem if it is a normal flight of stairs, but this is long and steep.
Once we reached the reception, we were met with condescension not welcome. You don't have Whats App? We only send things through whats app. Once I installed, and I asked him to send the information, he said "I already sent it to you twice." There was no "welcome to Florence" or have a drink of water, it is 40 degrees Celsius outside." No hospitality. No kindness. It was the opposite of everything I have previously experienced in Florence. The next day, the person at the desk barely looked up from her phone to say hello. There were no other guests for the man or the woman to help--they were not busy. We just weren't worthy of acknowledgement.
The hotel was clean and they had cold water at the reception. One long flight down from rooms.
If you want civility or acknowledgement that you are a guest, look elsewhere.
