"The pools were very big and nice, but that is because there are no useable beaches any where close to here. The poolside restaurant is nice and affordable, however, it gets really busy, because it is the only reasonably priced option available. The Pico restaurant is the only other option, and it is severely over priced for what you get, and thus why it was never very busy. There are no other dining options within walking distance (within 1 mile). You need a car or other transportation to get anywhere. Since we were there only 3 days, no regular room cleaning, even though we could have requested it if needed. The room was recently renovated nicely, but walls and windows are paper thin, and had loud neighbors the first night (teenage kids)"

"Anything but luxurious!Kitchen sinks were horrible. They definitely need replaced. Stoppers for kitchen sink were broken and one missing. Blinds upstairs didn’t work. No privacy. A couple of the pieces on the vertical blinds were broken and laying on the floor. Several of the blinds had signs on them that said do not operate!! Bedspread in master bedroom had numerous holes in it. Very threadbare. The lanai was filthy and in need of paint. Contacted owner/host. He wanted pictures of everything. I sent pictures. Thanked me and never heard another word about any of it. His main concern was that we turned off the a/c when we weren’t home!!We were asked to wash and dry all the towels before we checked out. Are you kidding me??? Seems like we paid a substantial cleaning fee!!!I’ve stayed at numerous places on the Big Island over the past 35 years and this one was unbelievable. Never again!!"

"After dealing with the traffic, this was a great home to come back to. I could have just read on the deck the whole time. Everything was in working condition and clean. I had a problem finding the road but I just got on the phone and she guided me to it. My bad. We were parked 6 feet from the road. The home is just half a mile from the hospital. Had to take my husband in for an eye condition. So nice not to have to drive into Kona.The first evening, my son and daughter-in-law came over with their kids to make dinner for us. It was so nice to have room for the six of us at the dining table and all the cooking utensils needed for an elegant meal in the middle of banana trees. I loved this little get away."

"Such a special place on the Big Island! Maka Nui feels like a resort from the moment you drive through the gate. Beautiful lush, tropical gardens and expansive ocean views. You cannot beat the sunsets. The house is just gorgeous - immaculately clean with comfy beds and a well-stocked kitchen. Candi is a gracious host and quick to answer questions. Thank you for all the treats! We'll be back!"

"Awesome Lanai views! Impressive communication! Very welcoming! Great location near Kona. Super quiet and beautiful nature setting. Condo was impressively clean as were the pool area and grounds. Morning, coffee on the lanai, listening to the birds every morning. Spotted whales breaching, and tails around lunchtime."
