Fatehpur Sikri
Fatehpur Sikri
Akbar the great came to Fatehpur Sikri to seek the Salim Chishti, a Sufi saint during India's mughal era, to bless him with a son. As his second wife, the Hindu Queen, Jodhabai, gave birth to his first son shortly after, he claimed the city as his good luck charm and built here his palace. Though a Muslim king, he was greatly influenced by various religions. His encouragement of a multi-faith society is clearly apparent in Fatehpur Sikri, which is a fusion of Hindu, Christian, Buddhist and Muslim architecture and motifs.
