"The Melanesian is a long-standing feature of the Port Vila accommodation scene and it's very well-priced. The Orchid Rooms are very pleasant but they all face onto the pool area. So you will want to have the windows shut if the music played at the bar and people's conversations bother you. The AC unit in my room did an OK job with keeping the room comfortable even with windows shut. The rooms have a good desk and small table for people needing to do work while there. "The room was clean and beds comfortable. The staff were all lovely. During a power cut (due to a car taking out the powerlines not due to the resort) the staff came around with candles. The pool is very well maintained. Having our own reef shoes and snorkels was a good idea though there are plenty at the hotel. It would be good to see (at ALL the sea swimming sites) signs for people not to stand on the reefs if they are swimming as it wrecks them. The only minor issue we had was our doors...

We used the kayaks every day and snorkeled at the small reef to the east of the island. All villas appear to have water frontage. Could not recommend more highly if you are after a low key and relaxing escape "

"A solid 3 star resort. Below par in a lot of things to include having mould in the rooms and poor bedding. Some of the fixtures in the bathroom were broken. We asked for a room change and still found the same issue such as broken fixture, mould and the bedding had an odour and lets not talk about the wifi. The island is beautiful thought with great staff and the food was good."

"The place was absolutely incredible. Everything was clean and fresh, beautiful views and the food was amazing but most importantly the staff was the best part, every single one the wait staff, the cleaning crew, the drivers and the garden guys all were absolutely lovely and so friendly they always went out of there way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. It was the hardest part about leaving saying goodbye to them all. 100% recommend to anyone"

"Absolutely stunning jungle/ river property, lush and green. The large house is very spacious. It was comfortable in the July weather. Plenty of room and beds for our family of 6. Property is off grid so some issues with hot water that were rectified. We’re told we would have daily house keeping, which didn’t happen once, but we were ok with the washing machine. If we had asked, I’m sure it would have been provided. Accessing the tours and using the river was a highlight for our family. - no fly...

"The biggest asset to this hotel is their staff everyone was friendly, helpful and engaged with the kids. From the initial welcome from the chief to departing the hotel everything was great. Would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Vanuatu .. "

"Very close to airport. You can walk if you have a short stopover. However, no kettle or cup, sheet torn, wifi password wrong, no key for door. Staff helpful. You can buy bottled water and instant noodles. Overall very basic"

"I would like a refund for the accommodation. The property was not as advertised. There was no operating restaurant. The room was unclean The shutters on the windows broken. Overall very unsatisfactory and not what was represented. I would like my $1200 money returned."
