I stayed in the maps (female only) room, and had a great time overall! Staff was super friendly, and the place was clean. Not a bad deal with the six dollar beer and shot combo! Lots to do right around the corner on Larimer, and Union Station is barely over half a mile away.
A beautiful space, they infused the space with imagination. The Hostel Fish buzzed with energy through the night in a way that spoke to the properties history. I loved the experience.
The property is really cute and clean and I enjoyed having my own private room with a bathroom and lots of light. This is unique for a hostel! The Beer Barn that is located behind the establishment and under my window was super loud until early in the mornings when it finally closed—on weekdays no less. I discovered earplugs in the lobby and that helped a lot.
Easily my favorite place to stay in Denver. The atmosphere is wonderfully unique and as a solo traveler you simply cannot beat their prices for the location.
It’s all about the staff members! Jake is very professional & consistently goes out of his way re customer service! Skylee & Morgan were also extremely patient, fun & helpful this trip :).
Staff member, Kat, went the extra mile/was very accommodating! &, staff members, Max & Jake, always go above the call of duty when it comes to customer service - - thank you!!!
Staff is delightful! JACK always has a smile to share, makes stay fun & comfortable for all = very accommodating/professional. Jen is incredibly efficient behind the bar/front desk.Kat made reservation process easy & has a kind, calming presence.Callie is super sweet/gregarious & always willing to help. Skylee & Morgan = 10 stars!!!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Pros: The staff, both front desk, and in the bar, were very pleasant and helpful. The building is older, but in good condition. My four person mixed dorm room was clean and tidy, comfortable bunk. The bathroom was very clean.
Cons: No sheet on bed, just a comforter, which was just a bit creepy. Real downside was that it was ridiculously loud in the evening (on a Tuesday), even after midnight, loudest hostel I've ever stayed at.
A decent value in a good location in Denver. I might stay again if in a pinch.
The Hostel itself is fairly quiet. I was a little worried when I checked in and there was a busy bar, but once you get upstairs to the rooms it’s very quiet. It’s pretty clean for what it is and everyone in the maps room was quiet and respectful. The bunks do get quite warm so maybe bring an eye mask and some ear plugs to help and then you can keep the curtain open for more air.
Staff was very friendly and the room was cozy. Location was perfect! Not having a little fridge in the room was difficult but overall it was an experience:)
Paying for parking was a bummer too.
For me Hostel Fish was perfect because of the price as all i needed was a place to sleep/rest and shower as i wandered the city through out the day and night. Now it could get a loud on the weekends so bring ear plugs if your not there to party. Maybe things they could improve on is a curtain that covers the entire bed so have a little privacy while you sleep. 1 out of 2 showers in the men’s bathroom was working properly. The other shower just had weak water pressure. if you’re a solo girl traveler just be careful mindful of your surroundings when walking outside there are homeless around.
The host Jared was super accommodating and welcoming! The property itself is filled with history and is not boring and uniform like most hostels i have stayed at in the U.S. I will definitely be back and would recommend a friend. Jared if you read this, cowboy Neil at the wheel here, thanks for the hospitality!!
