Peaceful, tranquil and charming, you will never forget your time spent at Quartz Mountain Ranch.

Stellar blue jays, nuthatches, finches and robins frequent the home except in the coldest wintertime. Birdseed is sometimes provided or can be purchased to set on the deck railings for them to eat while you can watch them for the comfort inside the lodge.

Hummingbirds love the area in the summertime. Hummingbirds with their high-pitched whine, frequent the property. They love to sit on the dead limbs of the huge Douglas Fir just west of the deck. Hummingbirds also love to dive bomb for insects in the area. "Hummers" as they are affectionately called are usually in the Colorado mountains from around April-May to September 15. Here is the recipe for making hummingbird nectar and replace it often to keep them coming back, of which they can get very protective:
    - Mix 4 parts water to 1 part table sugar in a pan. For example, use 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water.
    - Bring to a boil then remove from the heat.
    - Cover and allow to cool before using or pouring into the storage bottle.

The entire 3+ acres and the private home is all yours! Rex's office, the shed, and the campers are the only places that are locked and off limits.

Husband and wife couple Rex & Michele are happy to offer help throughout your stay. Feel free to contact us by text, email, or phone and we will help out.

The neighborhood is quiet. Mountain folk typically keep to themselves. if you walk around the circle, you might see someone walk occasionally. You might hear an occasional chainsaw mitigating the forest to help prevent forest fires.

A car is required in the mountains. Mountain bikes are fun and helpful.
