"Stayed for two nights. Staff are very helpful and pleasant. The lodge is situated close to the river which is good for swimming and has it's own forest reserve. We did two very enjoyable guided walks on the reserve with local guides who were extremely knowledgeable. We stayed in the family room which was rather rustic but plenty big enough for a family of four. The main frustration was the cold shower which didn't get fixed despite reporting on the first day. Both guides were very knowledgeable and we had a great time on both tours. Multiple trails on the property to explore on our own. The staff was very friendly and helpful. "This place is an underappreciated gem. It lies on the banks of the Rio San Carlos with 24 individual cabins. The rooms are very spacious and nicely appointed. While the pictures show the cabins overlooking the river only around four or five of them actually do that. I spent three nights here in August, 2018. "Staying at Maquenque Lodge was a pleasant surprise as staying in the middle of the rainforest was an unknown experience. The staff was very welcoming, there for all of your needs, and very helpful. The Wifi was outstanding throughout the property, AC units for the treehouses were perfect for the humid conditions and the jacuzzi was a fun bonus.
