"An absolutely beautiful setting, the cabin is a perfect getaway if you’re looking for something more remote and away from the summer crowds of Bar Harbor. The host is very responsive and helpful. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling to this area. We enjoyed the fire pit, the canoe, watching the various birds and wildlife, and getting local seafood from Winter Harbor and cooking in a few nights. "Perfect place for the family to relax! The house was clean and comfortable, the pond was like bath water. Great location between Ellsworth and the Schoodic section of Acadia National Park. Our group was able to split up to explore and spend time hanging at the pond wading, swimming, and kayaking. We all slept like babies in the cozy, fresh linens on comfortable beds. We will definitely be back!"

The breakfast is very basic (Walmart bagels and a coffee machine) and the staff is not overly welcoming. Has great potential but felt very basic (some ideas: some lawn games or board games to make the shared space feel more inviting, fruit at breakfast, some bathroom items, etc)."

"The Machias River Inn being my first time being there, and living in the state of Maine it was 10/10. The cleanest room that you can tell was cleaned properly (I’ve stayed elsewhere in the state and can tell when housekeeping leaves behind trash visible in plain sight it wasn’t cleaned or swept). Helen’s restaurant has the best pie and it’s right on the property. The waterfront views were remarkable! We watched seals every morning. Also not to take away from guides but honestly if you go to any beach nearby you’re going to see Seals and puffins if you don’t want to pay the cost of a boat tour!"

"We had a wonderful stay in Prospect Harbor and would happily return. The house was spotless when we arrived, and the layout was incredibly comfortable for our family. We spent hours playing board games together, and the well-stocked kitchen made it easy to cook meals during our stay.The views were absolutely beautiful, whether we were looking out the windows, relaxing on the deck, or sitting on the rocks by the water. One of the highlights of our trip was seeing a bald eagle up close—a truly unforgettable experience. We also loved falling asleep and waking up to the peaceful sound of the waves.This was the perfect place to relax, reconnect as a family, and enjoy the beauty of the Maine coast."
