"Good easy-to-find location, reasonably handy for city centre. Big comfortable room. Plenty of parking. Slightly over-priced continental breakfast (but aren't they always?) - but they bring you your tea / coffee rather than you having to do your own out of machines, which is always a big plus for me. Had a quick evening meal here one night - nothing special but OK, decent value and nicely delivered. Staff were always really helpful - occasionally slightly disorgansied/chaotic but no problem. Nice hotel, good experience. Thanks."

"We were lucky as my wife and I were given an upgrade to a spacious Family Room during our 2 night stay. Room was clean and staff were very helpful. Breakfasts and dinners were well cooked and generous. My wife thought the home-made steak and kidney pie was exceptional. Great advice to use the Park & Ride. Location was quiet and tranquil with accommodation located in separate building to the rear of the pub. Only minor maintenance issue I spotted was cracked tiles behind the bathroom door. Otherwise, everything was fabulous!"

"Nice old building which was very clean. Lots of stairs so not so good for people with mobility problems. We had a leak in the bathroom from old radiator and toilet and were given another room without any hassle. Freedom to come and go as we pleased. Also parking deal so we could leave the car knowing it was quite safe. Staff were all very pleasant. The bar was good, staffed by receptionist so no bustling room but quiet and restful. We have been to this hotel three times now and find it very good for a quiet weekend."

"The former home of Lord Kitchener offers large rooms and surroundings with old times charm. Room Kimberly had a specious sitting room with fridge and a smaller bedroom with loft ceiling. Didn't have a breakfast. Tried the small gym and small swimming pool, access code changes daily. The once beautiful grounds need a bit more attention . Free parking, decent price. Highly recommended"
