Beautiful Cottage Full of Art & Atmosphere
Greenville Cottage is part of my home, a stone built cottage, dating back to the early 1840s, it was built by my Great Great Great Grandfather Martin Maher. His brother James also resided here, in the house where I live with my husband and our three children. James and his family emigrated in the late 1840s to the United States, settling in Greenville Ohio. The Cottage accommodates four guests, having two bedrooms, the Parlour Bedroom and the Loft Bedroom, and one bathroom, as well as a small but functional kitchen and the living/dining room we call "The Aula" . We are in the process of restoring the old stone walls and developing our garden.
The house has many examples of art, mostly by local artists, photographers and crafts people who are our friends, which guests can enjoy, and the interior design of the cottage is of an exceptional high standard. I live right next door with my husband and three boys - and our two pet dogs who can do a little barking when they want food (and lots of tail wagging!), but they are friendly and welcoming.
We have our own rural country well, so we advise guests to be please be sparing with water use as the cottage is traditionally designed with a small tank, in respect to it's heritage. If there is heavy rain or drought, the water can get discoloured for which we apologise.
Old houses can be very hard to dust to an exceptional high standard, as some of the walls inside are natural stone. The also attract the odd harmless spider, which we consider part of nature, living in the rural countryside.

The cottage was everything i hoped it would be. we went everywhere. the location is perfect for day excursions and shopping. we will definitely be staying again. the hosts were amazing and the cottage had so much history and art.
Absolutely loved our stay at this nearly 200-year-old cottage tucked away in the heart of Ireland. It’s the perfect home base for day trips across the country. we were able to explore so much without ever feeling rushed. The location is peaceful, central, and full of character. One of the best parts was coming back to the cottage and being greeted by the dogs across the gate! Denise and her husband were wonderful hosts, incredibly kind, thoughtful, and a joy to chat with. We had some great conversations and learned so much from both of them.If you’re looking for something more memorable than a standard hotel stay, this is it. Unique, charming, and full of history, we’d absolutely recommend it!
Denise is a beautiful, friendly, considerate and very welcoming landlady. Her home baked Irish breads are fantastic. We were there ten days and she baked bread for us on three separate days as gifts. Absolutely delicious. We won't hesitate in staying at her beautiful self contained property again. Any future stays in Tipperary, she will be our first port of call. Thanks Denise, you are amazing.
We chose this cottage in the country to experience the local towns, people, the food, & history. We rented a car & used the cottage as base. Each day we drove to a different castle or locale.Even the Cliffs of Moher was a day trip. Roscrea village was close for groceries. Denise & Joe were very friendly, helpful, kind, & wonderful hosts. Loved all the decor, books, location & Denise’s Irish soda bread was YUMMY! Highly recommend. Debbi & Perry
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Greenville. The cottage is situated in a quiet, very green location, the only thing you'll hear are Irish rain, and occasionally cows or when the lovely canine co-hosts Mandjar and Venice demand your attention. At the same time it's also close enough to make it a base for interesting day trips, we went to Kilkenny, Cashel, the cliffs and Limerick. The next shopping opportunity is in Templemore, approximately 10 mins by car. Also, Denise is an absolute treasure, she brought us home-made bread and artisan cheese and messaged us regularly to make sure everything was alright. The cottage itself is also very interesting, I never stayed in a house like this and it was quite fun to figure out the little quirks that come with it, for example how to properly shut the capricious doors. The beds are very good, there are tons of info material about the tourist attractions nearby and Denise also has a lot of tips. Long review short: We loved the stay and I'd recommend Greenville to everyone who wants to stay in a unique place that's also way quieter and has more soul than a hotel in a big city.
We used the cottage as a central location to look at many different places in Ireland. The host was very helpful and welcomed us to the cottage. There were nice places to sit inside and out.I would just like to point out that if you are expecting a hotel or a sterile B&B this is likely not for you.
Our hosts were incredibly helpful, friendly and from the moment we arrived more than happy to pass on information to places to visit in Ireland. The cottage was so welcoming and we loved every moment we had there. Any questions we had were always answered extremely quickly. It was a pleasure to stay in Greenville Cottage, thank you to Denise and Joseph and their three sons, you all aided in our visit to your home and your country .
The cottage is just so special and beautiful, we just loved it. It's close to town and there are a lot of things to do in the area.
Thank you Denise for the warm welcome and looking after us.

Simply Beautiful!
A slice of paradise in the middle of the country. Strategically located for day trips. We looked forward to returning each evening to relax in front of a burning fire with a glass of wine. Owner was terrific and went the extra mile to make us feel at home.
Relax in an old fashioned atmosphere the old fashioned way.
We were three older adults looking for a quiet place to stay while visiting the mid west. It is a very central location with connections to the motorway going both east and west. We felt welcomed, secure, and a quiet place to just relax in the evenings. The cottage has a lot of old age charm, artistic touches and a very warm welcome by our hostess. Very cllean, no mod cons, but who needs those? It’s a holiday venue for relaxation.
I’ve always wanted to stay in a thatched cottage, and this delivered! I’ve also wanted to experience life in rural Ireland. Denise was wonderful in pointing us to authentic places, walks and experiences that we’d never be able to find elsewhere. This two week stay was fabulous.
Traditional cottage with 'mezzanine' second bedroom. All facilities adequate. The charm of the cottage lies in its eccentric mix of modern art and shabby chic decor. There are family mementoes, books, bric a brac etc everywhere! The owners live next door and are very caring and helpful.
The property was as unique and enjoyable as described. The only drawback was the cold weather and lack of adequate heating. Both doors had multiple gaps. the indoor temp. about the same as outside. Very recommendable in warmer weather.

Charming Irish country get-away
Denise and her husband are marvelous hosts, in this charming thatched cottage. It is filled with eclectic art, and is situated down a small lane in a natural setting among hedges and fields. The Irish soda bread is first rate - yum! This is a nice spot to just relax away from town life, but it is also only about 10 minutes drive from Templemore where you can get meals and do grocery shopping. We used it as a home base to explore much of Co. Tipperary as well as Laois, Kildare, and part of Limerick. Good value!
Lovely old cottage with nice features and quirky ornamentation. It is lovely and quiet and it was nice to sit outside and hear nothing. Complete silence, could not even hear any cars. Great location for getting about too, close enough to the motorways. Cottage could be a bit chilly as the weather wasn't the best but I guess that's getting used to a different style of living. Only comment was it could have been cleaner. Although the spiders are a part of the furniture it was a little dusty, but that's a minor blemish. We'll worth he cost of staying.
Quaint cottage in peaceful setting. Denise welcomed us with lovely bread and cheese. They were quick to make some changes to the cottage that needed attending to (new toilet seat and door lock). Other than that, quiet.
Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful cottage. It is a historic landmark. Harry and loved the countryside setting. Wonderful attention to detail and hosts were more than helpful and accommodating.
This is a warm and friendly cottage to stay in that is unique with its thatched roof, interesting art, and a loft styled fun bedroom for the older child, teen or adventuresome adult. The main bedroom is spacious with a very comfortable bed. The sitting room is comfortable with a cozy fireplace, generous sofas and a dining area. It's old cottage styled living with enough conveniences of the modern day such as wifi, fridge freezer, cooker and generous sized bathroom. We enjoyed our stay as it gave us a nice base to do some local hiking and exploring in nearby areas including the Devil's Bit mountain and a few other walking/hiking areas.
