"From the moment we arrived, we fell in love with the house. The location is on a bluff with steps down to Penobscot Bay, surrounded by a green sward with lovely peonies, hostas, and other plantings circling the house. Behind the house, the lawn extends up to a line of tall oaks and an overlook, with a set of chairs inviting reading, conversation, or just contemplation of the changing light on the water.The house itself is spacious and full of historic character fitting the Maine location, while also having all of the features needed for a family vacation. The kitchen is well equipped for real cooking, and there is a wonderful dining room with picture windows and a table that easily accommodates 10 people. In the media room, there is plentiful seating, and a television setup perfect for group viewing (we were lucky to have our visit coincide with the World Cup). Since the weather was excellent during our stay, we didn’t have a chance to make use of the stock of games, but we would have been happily occupied on a rainy day, whether playing games, cooking, or getting wrapped up in one of the many books in the living room. All of the beds are very comfortable, showers work well, and there are plenty of towels. Our host, Suzanne, was extremely hospitable, responding quickly to queries and offering helpful local suggestions. Roads nearby are great for walking and running, and we greatly enjoyed the tennis courts in Belfast city park.Altogether a perfect stay!"
