Hotels near Alton Station

"Check in was easy and the staff were amazing during my entire stay. I stayed in a single room, the room was surprisingly spacious and well laid out and had a decent sized bathroom. Couple of things to note: Room was on the third floor, there is no elevator. Not too much of a problem as the stairs are not steep or narrow. Room was in the”attic space” so being just over 5’ tall wasn’t too much of a problem, but anyone taller may find it a bit of a problem. Room had great skylights with really good black out blinds! Hotel is showing a little wear and tear, but considering the age of the building it’s nothing major. It has a lot of charm. Food was also really good, and reasonably priced. Reception area is very welcoming with a fire going the entire time (I visited in Jan!). It’s also a nice place to sit and read with a drink (bar is handy being right next door) Big bonus is the ease of getting around, it’s less than 5 mins from the train station and about a 5 min walk into the town. It’s also only a 35-40 min walk to Jane Austen’s house and Chawton House. Which is another bonus! Overall would 100% stay here again!"

"On arrival it was a bit dark. No lightning to cabins. I think maybe solar lightning or something!! Stepped into cabin it was nice and warm as picked the coldest night of the year so dar to turn up. Host left lights on so we could see inside. Bathroom was great, double bed comfortable nice thick duvet as it was cold. Kitchenette was just the right size for the cabin. The downfall i would say is the water pressure in the shower. I get it no power shower as it's mains fed. But overall stay we enjoyed it and wiuld love to do a summer visit in the future. Communication with the host was excellent. "

"I expect that no one from Expedia had visited this 'hotel' basically a pub with four rooms. They were tired, decoration poor, carpets grubby, toilet was noisy (Macerator) no breakfast options at all and very expensive, £95 per room!"

"Excellent base to explore from, close to Alton Train Station with easy access to London. Two good pubs nearby. Scenic village with lots of walks. Accomodation clean, welcoming and comfortable. Welcome pack was a great touch. Only one bathroom and TV signal not great so take the time to enjoy the area and each others company. Best nights sleep in a long time, great kitchen facilities. Would highly recommend a stay here."
