The staff were lovely and helpful but we had booked there as there was food available. However when we got there we were told food only on Sundays.

Cheap and cheerful, friendly staff, good prices for food and drinks,
Comfortable overnight stay in a pub. No evening meal available on night we stayed which was a little disappointing but host offered to help order take away for us. Good location. Very small bathroom but shower nice and hot. Some lose fixings need addressing but not an issue. I would stay again

Ideal stopover within walking distance of Alnwick. Exactly suited our purpose
Everything was fine except breakfast wasn’t available. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was quiet and peaceful

Reception was fine, staff friendly and polite but this property is not good value for money. While clean enough the accommodation is very tired and is right alongside a busy road and the window wouldn't close. The bathroom is very cramped and would not suit the larger person. At the price breakfast really should be included. We've stayed at far nicer accommodation for nearly half the price and with breakfast included. Previous occupants of our room had used the kettle as a teapot and, while not the act itself is not hosts fault, we found stale tea and teabags in the kettle when we came to use it. Also, be aware that if you would like to walk into the town centre or the castle, it's a long uphill climb back to the property. This didn't worry us but wouldn't suit others. The property was a poor choice on my behalf.
No one to check me in ,waited 1 hour. room was not ready.
On return hotel in darkness. lighting inside very poor. room key written not printed, was difficult to read, making room entry difficult. room door opened outward, gave cause for safety concern. slept with light on did not feel comfortable. window could not be closed. no breakfast available. poor tea and coffee facilities in room, no shower gel or shampoo, only hand wash. showerhead loose, couldn't regulate water, and awful smell from pipes.
A very friendly and welcoming place, perfect base for a short visit to Northumberland. Knowing it is essentially a pub with rooms, we weren't expecting hotel standards. Our room was comfortable, spotlessly clean, perhaps the bathroom needs a revamp but it was perfectly adequate. Breakfast was superb - a very hearty full English which set us up for the day. We ate there both evenings too. Due to Covid19 there was a limited menu but the food was good - very generous portions!
Susan and team were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.
We only stayed one night and didn’t eat there but it was a comfortable stay, rooms were clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms face directly on road, but there wasn’t a great deal of traffic so we weren’t disturbed. It’s a bit of an uphill walk out of town (if you’re not driving) but quite manageable.
Delicious evening meal and breakfast, nice friendly staff, little bit further from the centre of Alnwick than we are used to and the drinks were a little bit pricey.
Would definitely stay here again, welcoming little boozer with nice clientele

Adequate but not worth the money
This hotel is perfectly adequate for a one night stop over but is no where near worth the price we paid for a night
The staff there are really friendly and cant do enough for you . The rooms themselves are exactly what you expect from a small hotel and bar, comfortable and have everything that you need for a short stay. The breakfast was lovely as well.
Hidden gem, on outskirts of town, easy walk down hill to centre.
Room clean and comfortable, with added bonus of a cereal, juice, tea, coffee and English breakfast. Would stay again no problem.
The best thing about this B&B were the staff. It is the sort of place where nothing is too much trouble, including taking the time to have a chat in the morning and give advice on places to visit. The breakfast was huge and easily modified - you just need to ask. The bedroom was very clean and well provisioned with towels and shampoo. Plenty of tea/coffee/milks/pillows. For the price I paid I was glad to get a bathroom so could forgive its small size and the lack of a mirror/toilet roll holder and the strange way the shower door opened. It had the feel of a place that the owners were trying to improve but perhaps lack experience in a few areas. They were naturally hospitable which is what B&Bs should be about. Overall I enjoyed my stay. If I was up in the area again, I would happily rebook.
