Bewick Hall, Aldbrough, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Looking west-northwest from Withernwick Road at Cony Garth Hill, northwest of Aldbrough. The name Bewick is an Anglo-Scandinavian hybrid meaning 'dairy farm near the bees'. The present Bewick Hall is an 18th-century building which was remodelled in the later 19th century and incorporates materials from an earlier house. The medieval manor house is thought to have stood on a moated site just west of the newer building.
