"It's a lovely old hotel BUT... There's no lift and for me, age 77, the 50 stairs up to my room, and back down, were not easy to manage. The hotel, as at April 2026, is undergoing some renovation which made things more awkward and left a lot of mess and dirt around. There was no help to get suitcases upstairs. Having said that the staff were all lovely people and breakfast was good. The car park is useful but a bit of distance from the hotel and up a hill to get out of the car park and down again...

"A friendly and supportive receptionist greeted me. The room was bright, fresh and clean. A good night's sleep was had in a comfortable bed followed by a powerful hot shower in the morning. "

"The service of the staff was excellent and car parking is free. However, the plug sockets next to the bed required moving the bedside tables, so if you want to use any electrical devices whilst in bed, you had to use the sockets across the room. The toilet positioned in the room were too close to the wall and the handles to open the windows were loose and call fall out anytime. "

"Friendly helpful staff, lovely ambience, no problem with late night return (from a party), comfy beds, great breakfast and nice village. Only criticism was slightly ageing (noisy) extractor fan in bathroom and ancient double glazing arrangement made opening a window quite a task. But all in all an excellent stay."
