"We loved our two nights stay at Melfort House. It was peaceful idyll that restored us somewhat as we were nearing the end of our road trip through Scotland. "Overall tired and there is no cooked breakfast which apparently was changed recently but they did not advise us and there were no apologies either. Room bathroom was generally grubby. Carpet was dirty. It has clearly seen better times."

"Arrived one and a half hours early and asked a bearded guy if there was any chance of getting in to the room, his response was just no. No checking to see what rooms had been done just no! Not a great welcome. However the lady that did everything at breakfast was fantastic so credit to her!"

"Beautiful grounds and location !!! The hotel inside needs updating screams for a makeover , it’s smelly : like damp / mould the carpets are old and dirty but the decor is nice and has the potential to be massively improved , the outside is not reflected inside like they are 2 different properties . Staff all nice and friendly , pool could do with some loungers as there are only 4 to be shared by all families how ? Also the amount of chemicals used in the pool area made our eyes sting and was unpleasant , the pool temperature was perfect . The family room was basic again needs decorating and new carpets , if you have a pool automatically robes should be available in rooms . Breakfast was nice very tasty cooked bfast my husband enjoyed the black pudding said it was the best ! The only thing could be improved is that staff should replenish the bread , pastries etc as quick run out and staff didn’t check"
