This mountain pass village offers dramatic views of the Sierra de Guadarrama and a small museum commemorating Napoleon's famous battle. Hike the historic mountain trails where traders once traveled between Madrid and northern Spain, then warm up with hearty Castilian cuisine at family-run restaurants.

Mirasierra
10/10 Excellent
"Ideally located for an overnight stop to or from the ferries. Good size rooms, ask for one at the back for the best views. Great choice in the restaurant."
Hotel Posada La Fragua
8/10 Good
"If you book this hotel and you use Google maps to find it, then put in Gandullas only as this is the village the hotel is in. Maps took me to 3 different places before some locals at my third stop gave me the correct address. They said I was in Pinuecar and not Gandullas. Very hard to find. But then I was able to access the property but there is nothing in the village by way of bars or restaurants. I had to go onto the next town to find something to eat. But I have to say I had a comfortable night and the room was good and the bed good and it was very quiet. It was a clean establishment so for the price I have to admit it was very much worth it. Just make sure you have a phone to contact the owner to get in and then go to the nearest town to find food and drinks."
