"If bennetts bar had music, it would have been more of a spot for us to just hang out. The bar tender was great. The food was great but it was too quiet"
"Room was very tired and the carpet had not been vacuumed. Lots of crumbs. Bathroom was clean but not well maintained with shoddy repairs. The bar closed at 9pm even on a Saturday night. Hardly any staff. The building is covered in scaffolding so hopefully the hotel is being updated. The location is very good but could not recommend the hotel in current condition."
"We had a very comfortable overnight stay at the hotel. Everything about the hotel was of a high standard. Would certainly stay again and recommend to others."
"This is the worst hotel I have stayed on. We were put in the motel part, like pontins but 20 years older! Front door had light shining through it, light was hanging with loose wires, dead flies, spiders, cob webs, stains on sheets, bed side lights no light bulbs, grouting yellow in bathroom and windows held in with lose paint
I did ring to complain but they weren't interested.
The hole building needs knocking down.
I got an email to say it's being refurbished, and to bear with them. If you...
"We stayed at Hollin Hose Hotel and unfortunately , the standard of the room was quite disappointing.
The room felt very outdated and in need of refurbishment. The windows were extremely old and difficult to open, the bathroom door would not close properly, and the bathroom tap was loose and moved around when used. The carpet looks quite dirty and, in my opinion not ideal in the a hotel room.
There was also a noticeable musty smell in both the room and corridor, with an unpleasant smell that...
"If you are staying ground floor and have people above you it can be noisey, not sure much soundproofing in floor. Otherwise really good stay, staff always around and happy to help."
"Food was well cooked would recommend the Mixed Grill to anyone. Breakfast was first class. Bedroom was more than adequate TV easy to use as was the shower in so many hotels showers are so difficult to work out. The reception staff were really friendly and efficient"
"This is a really, really nice hotel. The room was lovely. Very nicely laid out, very clean and with everything you need. Very nice bathroom with toiletries and with a good shower and large bath. Breakfast was very good with several choices and we enjoyed a full English and Eggs Benedict. The staff were lovely and were extremely helpful with everything including offering to take our bags up to the room etc. Parking was on site and very good. We arrived quite early, well before check in, and they...
"Firstly this is in no way a reflection of the staff who are fantastic....
This hotel is so tired it's awful. I understand it's old but thats no excuse for zero maintenance. 2 double sockets in the room, both had only one working properly. The safety procedure sheet from the back of the door was on the floor next to the broken coat hanger. The bed base has an awful stain on it which is right in view. 2 windows have no curtains. There is only one chair in the room, which is falling apart, and no...
"Pleasant stay …very good room…helpful staff……think could upgrade non cooked breakfast options a little …not too onerous to offer good bread, jams or yoghurt or fruit but evening meals good"
"We welcomed the useful car park with my daughter’s pending wedding and ease of access to town. Room was clean but very hot although fan was provided but noisy overnight and didn’t rotate & only one window opened -
Despite this and noisy guests in proximity - everything else was good. Breakfast and staff were helpful and especially at breakfast the staff member was pleasant and I noted took time to talk to guests and was very amenable.
Thank you for a good stay prior to wedding. 😊"
"Hotel is a bit dated but all clean which is the main thing. Quick one night stay. Arrived late and checked out early due to our plans so can’t comment on much tbh. Hotel was quiet so got a decent nights sleep"
