"Check in was chaotic and our evening meal booking was lost! This meant a late evening dining time.
When I got to my room it was obvious the bathroom had not been cleaned (see photo of Bath plug) This was disgusting and reported to reception but it took another day before resolution. No offer was made to change room or compensation.
I have since left messages with manager to try to discuss this issue but had no response which is extremely disappointing and very unprofessional.
I would not come...
"What a perfect place to stay. We stayed in one of the two bedroom cottages which was perfect. I could not say a negative thing about the cottage. We only stayed for 2 nights while visiting near bye family. But we will be back for a proper break"
"I was in Rm 4, a small twin with ensuite. The window opened (hood) but unfortunately, right onto the alley where the cooking fan vented. It was quite loud but did stop before bedtime.
Breakfast was surprisingly included and very tasty. Did not have dinner as there was nothing small that I wanted to eat. I was later told by a customer that you could order half portions of the main menu items. I didn’t realize this and would have done so.

"Nice location but room needed an update. Very small bathroom and the sink was in the bedroom. We were only informed that no breakfast was available after we checked in even though we had requested breakfast when we booked. Overall disappointed with the hotel. "
"The public areas were a bit dark and gloomy. The bedroom was hot and stuffy even with the windows open. Some furniture was quite old fashioned but the bed was comfortable enough. The food was OK but lacked better wine choices. The breakfast was a bit too greasy. Staff were friendly and helpful."
"This was a great location for me to visit Galashiels. Its a lovely old manse building with nice clean big rooms and comfy beds. The owners of the guest house were on site, very friendly and welcoming. I had a sound night's sleep and woke to a lovely cooked breakfast with all the trimmings. I couldn't fault my stay.
There is plenty parking but lots of free street parking nearby anyway so no issues there. I wouldn't hesitate to book again."
