The so-called wind tidal flats are a special feature. Here there are no tide-dependent changes in the water level, but only the wind determines what happens. The cranes arriving in autumn are a symbol of the Bodden landscape. Together with other migratory birds, they dominate the landscape at this time of year and offer nature lovers an unrivalled natural spectacle. The municipality of Zingst covers the entire eastern part of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula and also includes the two islands of Kirr and Oie. Zingst" is 20 kilometres wide and lies directly on the Baltic Sea, offering visitors one of the most beautiful beaches in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
