"Really happy with my stay. Half the price (£65 for Walnut Room) and twice as good as city centre chains. There was a bit of traffic noise (building is close to a busy road) but the room had character (v high ceilings), nice furniture, comfortable bed, was clean and in a good location. Easy to find fault in places but as someone who regularly works away for work, this is definitely a 'come back to'."

"The place was quiet apart from a little bit of noise from the neighbours in the next house. Overall ok thanks to the other guest Michael who welcomed me and also showed me that there was a kitchen (microwave oven), which I could use. "Pretty solid B&B. Friendly and welcoming host. Clean and comfortable. Lovely location, just a shame it was in the middle of a storm so couldn’t appreciate the area. Was upgraded to a slightly bigger room. Only real downsides for me is there was no desk or chair to work at and was asked to check out half an hour earlier than the booking stated. I would return, but would also appreciate a veggie/vegan breakfast being offered. "

"This was generally a nice property to stay in. There were a few technical issues on check in but these were sorted very quickly. The wifi isn’t very strong and as soon as I moved into the bedroom it disconnected me every time. Overall it was a very clean place except for the kitchen. Most of the dishes in the kitchen cupboards were dirty and I had to wash everything before I used it. As was the stove top and bench. Another little problem is that they say they will charge £10 for any unwashed...

Feels like a hole in one
"First impressions of the hotel are very good, with its impressive site and it being part of the well-known country club. For the age of the building, the place is in remarkable condition. The hotel rooms are in great condition and all look surprisingly new. Wonderful views are available from the top floor and walks through the grounds and gardens on the ground floor. Food is excellent and very attentive, professional and courteous staff throughout the hotel. Ultimately, high marks and definitely a recommendation for the future."
