"Small boutique hotel in a very good location (next to subway, close to attractions). The hotel was quiet, staff were very friendly. Even the cheapest room was very spacious. It was superb value for the price. Only downside was shower had a bit of mould on the seals (more a design flaw as moisture can’t escape). "

"Really lovely spacious room with air con which kept the room warm as I went in autumn time whilst it was chilly outside. The bed also has an electric blanket. My room also had a little balcony. When you come out of the hotel you can go right and come to the main high street with lots of restuarant and shops or go left and go down lots of interesting little alleyways with cute shops and cafes. "Good place to stay, dorm style for smaller rooms unless you have a suite. Close to everything you’d want to do in the area, there’s an awesome cafe right down the street called D3 that’s worth checking out."

"I had an excellent time staying at Soochow 1779. The staff members do not speak English, but they will readily use translation apps to communicate with you--and if you speak Mandarin, they will be incredibly helpful. The breakfasts are fantastic; every day, different Suzhou specialities (mostly different kinds of dumplings and buns) are served with congee, pickles, and fruit. The rooms are well maintained, though the building is, indeed, 240 years old, and sound is transferred fairly easily...

"Recommended, the apartment is clean and very comfortable. The service is also very good. The only cons is probably it's location which is situated in the middle of industrial area, thus the nearest shopping center is about 15-20 mins walking distance."
