"The view is what sells the apartment .. it's all downhill from there really. Or should I say 'uphill' as there are 53 steps and 4 potholed paths to get to and from the top apt. Had the number of steps been advertised I would not have booked a stay at the Cove. There is quite a lot of noise from the road and railway which runs right outside. If the look they were going for was 'shabby chic' .. they certainly achieved 'Shabby' ! Walls marked and plaster crumbling away in various places. ...

"Easily one of the best places we have ever stayed. Wonderful sceneries, friendly staff, excellent location. Outstanding breakfast and freshly cooked evening meal if you ask for it beforehand. Very spacious rooms and it is certainly home from home. It is an excellent base for the gateway to Cape Point, Boulder Bay and Chapman’s Peak. Car is essential for easy travel."

"Tracey & Mark were lovely, very attentive. Boho suite was smaller than expected felt a bit closed in due to lack of views/light from windows. The other rooms were beautiful though. They had lovely linen and wines for sale also. Nice location in Tokai. Would go again. "

"Devonport House is a wonderful guest house in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. Jenn and Jacques are great hosts and very helpful with tips for restaurants and sightseeing. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. Breakfast includes plenty of choices for everybody. Constantia is perfect if you are looking for a place close to Cape Town but safe and quiet."

"We booked two weeks before our stay but when we arrived there were initially only construction workers on site and the hotel was closed. A manager was called and surprised that we had been able to book as Stoep was meant to be offline for renovations. We checked again while standing with him and Stoep was still live on the booking sites and accepting reservations. After 4 hours of searching (Kalk Bay fills up fast and you will struggle to find accommodation on the day) we found the last room at another hotel down the road. Despite repeated requests, Stoep never refunded us our booking (pre-paid online). We tried to speak to the General Manager but our calls were never answered / messages responded to. I would not risk booking here - even if they say renovations are now complete - they did not look like small renovations. "

Majestic Townhouse 9 - Kalk Bay seaside living

Fantastic getaway on False Bay

"Great place, great location, great hosts. Very elegant townhouse which is just minutes walk away from lovely cafes/restaurants/local harbour and tidal pools options. The holiday village is quiet and beautifully presented and safe+contained environment with small kids. Added bonus to have a spa and communal swimming pool on your doorstep. Owners were very responsive and very friendly and helpful, with an easy checkin process and very tidy and beautifully presented house, with everything you need including full kitchen appliances and crockery etc. We stayed with two small kids under 2 and the hosts were very accommodating. "

"This place is divine! A beautiful old house, lovely decor, spacious, incredible views, great location, and really lovely staff! Freshly ground coffee delivered to your room at a time you choose each morning was a great touch. I fell in love with Kalk Bay - what a gem of a town. And I'd highly recommend staying at Chartfield to anyone looking to visit Kalk Bay."

Wonderful apartment close to train station

"Apartment was spacious and comfortable. Even though it was on the main road, the noise didn’t bother us all that much. Louise, who manages the apartment along with her husband was gracious and met us when we arrived, even though we were a bit late. She gave some great recommendations for restaurants in the area. Room and bed was comfortable with a wood-burning stove to heat the apartment. One possible discrepancy we noted is that the listing says that the apartment has a dryer, but we were unable to find it. However, there was a drying rack and washing machine. Overall, a very nice place to stay for a few nights Nice view out over the ocean."
