"The hotel is a bit out of town and very peaceful. Lovely view of the hills. Checkin was friendly and welcoming. Room was rather bland and slightly 1970s, but clean and well kept. Most importantly it was warm a comfortable and I got a good night’s sleep. The bar closed very early which was a shame as I’d arranged to meet a friend at 9pm but by then all was in darkness. "William was very accommodating and very helpful. He's friendly and easy going. He made me feel welcome and comfortable. There are also friendly local customers that use the bar as their local pub, which was refreshing to see. In additions, William is preparing his kitchen to start serving hot food. This will be an addition to their good services and I wish them the best of luck"

"Travelled from Yorkshire en route to the New Forest, stayed one night. We had a comfortable nights stay, an amazing evening meal & a fantastic breakfast! We would love to return. Great room facilities including a fan which was much appreciated! Popular with the locals which is always a good sign. Recommended! "

"Stayed here in November 2023 and the only issue then was the plug release in the bath was broken. We stayed again in the same room September 2024 and they have still not fixed the plug release I had to get a teaspoon and pry it open!! Apart from that the food is fantastic and service brilliant. Sad to see the Candal factory has gone under after 50 years. We will be back might try a different room next time. "
