"So it turns out this property (Mahoora Tented Safari Camp) is exactly the same as the similarly named 'Big Game Camp'. Don't be fooled by the location on hotels.com map - they are one in the same place. But one costs 9x more than the other one. Yes. 9 times more.
You will get picked up at the drop-off point by the same staff in the same car, offered the same welcome refreshments, have the same dinner, and be staying in the same campsite with the same staff and amenities, regardless if you...
"Remote space to really get away from the hustle and bustle of city life. We stayed at Kay Jay Wild’s for 2 nights so we could do a full day safari at Wilpattu. While Kay Jay Wild’s was close to an entrance of the national park, it was not the main entrance which meant we had to wake up earlier for our driver to drive to the other entrance which was ~40km more distance.
Otherwise - service was great and every hotel staff was helpful, friendly and kind. "
"This is an unique place to be! Such lovely people, you feel overwhelmed with kindness and hospitallity! And a chance to go to Willpathu N.P. We were there for 2 nights and will never forget our stay with these lovely people! And they make you tradditional food and snacks... An unique experience!"
"This is a primitive camping site. Yes the tent is large and there is an outdoor toilet and shower which is delightful but this is still just a camp site. No other facilities. There is no A/C and it can get quite hot in the tent. We had a wonderful candle lit dinner by the chef who also lit us a fire which was beautiful under the stars. Some holes in the tent need to be fixed due to mosquitos. "
"Beautiful, quiet place with lovely views of the lagoon. Not too easy to reach. Comfy cabanas with porch. Perfect service and the best food we had during our whole holiday! Highly recommended!"

"A Perfect Introduction to Sri Lankan Hospitality
Our stay at Wilpattu Tree House was nothing short of amazing and served as a perfect introduction to the warm and thoughtful hospitality of Sri Lanka. From the moment we arrived, the hosts made sure every detail was taken care of, creating an experience that was both comfortable and memorable.
One of our highlights was the safari tour of Wilpattu National Park, which our hosts graciously arranged for us. The driver they connected us with was clearly experienced and knew all the best spots to find the animals we were hoping to see — it felt like a true insider experience!
Back at the treehouse, I found myself fully immersed in the peaceful surroundings. Resting on a lounge chair and listening to the sounds of the jungle was the perfect way to unwind and reconnect with nature. This place offers more than just a stay — it’s a peaceful window into the natural beauty, kind people, and rich culture of Sri Lanka.
We also truly enjoyed the authentic Sri Lankan meals, full of flavor and clearly prepared with care.
I wholeheartedly recommend Wilpattu Tree House to anyone looking for a unique and serene getaway. Whether you're planning a wildlife adventure or simply a quiet escape into nature, this is the perfect place to begin.

"Leopard Trails is a fabulous rustic luxury camp in the beautiful Wilpattu Park. This was one of our favorite stays in all of Sri Lanka! The Naturalist guide who took us on safari was attentive, knowledgable, and a genuinely great guy. Back at camp, the rooms were comfortable and the private dining candle lit dinners were magically romantic. I recommend the suite with the plunge pool, it was bliss after a hot and dusty drive on safari. Do not miss the opportunity to visit this special place! "

"Stunning views from the hotel overlooking the lake and the temples. The staff from reception to room service are very courteous. Will definitely consider for next trip to Anuradhapura."
"The team at Big Game was amazing! We booked because we really wanted to do a safari and that was amazing but we were blown away be everything else! The food was above and beyond what I expected with 4 courses for dinner, 3 at lunch , and a very full breakfast. They list breakfast as continental but it's much more than that.
The first tent we were in was fine but we upgraded part way through and really appreciated the extra space! "
"A last minute booking was not an issue. Friendly reception and well organised. Lovely well appointed room. Offered for us to return (after checking out) for a swim and a shower after our safari tour !"
Though Nochchiyagama District Hospital might be what brings you to town, perhaps you'll have a chance to explore more of Nochchiyagama while you are here.
