Packwood Lodge
8/10 Good
"Room is older but well maintained. Air conditioner is loud. Restaurant right on property has a great breakfast. We stayed in the back building but they also have mini cabins"
Spacious Family Vacation Retreat!
10/10 Excellent
"We loved this home! Clean, aesthetically pleasing, and well stocked! We were also pleasantly surprised to see elk roaming around the neighborhood. That was so fun! Highly recommend this place!"
Cowlitz River Lodge
10/10 Excellent
"Our stay was really great. The room was clean and cozy, there was hot chocolate, teas, coffees, and popcorn for the guest in the lodge. The beds were comfortable and there were many different pillows to choose from. To make our stay even better, the last night we were there, a large heard of elk invaded the property and stayed all night. There were elk right outside our room windows and out front as well. My husband is a photographer so he was in heaven. We were there for Mt. Rainier which was too foggy to see the entire time we were there so the elk were a nice distraction from our disappointment. Our only complaint would be the noise coming from upstairs. I'm not sure if everyone could hear the second floor so loudly or if our upstairs neighbors were just particularly loud, but it sounded like they were herding cattle at times."
Alta Crystal Resort
10/10 Excellent
"We really enjoyed our stay! The place was clean and cozy, and the fireplace made it feel extra warm and welcoming. It was also in a great location, really close to the trails. We’d definitely stay here again!"
Crystal Mountain Hotels

"Clean, friendly staff great location but not updated."
Crest Trail Lodge
8/10 Good
"We stayed over the Labor Day Holiday weekend, so maybe that affected the price; but this was a fairly expensive hotel and yet felt more like a small-town, budget-price facility. The grounds and room were fine, just not the level one might expect for the pricey tag. Our only specific complaint was that the walls and ceiling were so sound-transparent that we could hear conversations going on at the Front Desk; and the footsteps from the floor above were so loud that I occasionally feared the person above might break through and join us in our room! I could hear them packing early in the morning - opening the fridge door, hangers clanging on the closet rack, microwave door closing -- all without my hearing aids in!"
Ohana Cabin | WiFi, Wood Stove, AC, Hot tub
10/10 Excellent
"Darling cabin! Very well stocked with everything I could possibly need for my stay. Quiet area with quiet neighbors, perfect for a hiker needing good zzz’s after long days in the park! The porch/deck looked like it would be amazing to watch sunsets from but I was gone until well after dark each night. The cedar hot tub looked so inviting but honestly I spent so much time in Rainier, I never did have time to use it! The record player was so fun. There were games and puzzles and books as well. The location was very close to the main part of Packwood, easy to get to morning coffee and to grab a drink in town. Also incredibly close to the park entrance. I was sad Sunrise was closed due to the fires but the hosts have a binder full of recommended hikes. I’d love to return with my family to really enjoy the property next time!"
Elk Cabin, Hot Tub, AC, Fire Pit, River Access
10/10 Excellent
"Host was excellent…cozy, comfortable cabin. Hot tub with mountain views after a day of hiking was great!"
Packwood Inn
8/10 Good
"This was the only room available on Labor Day so we took it! had a rough start because nobody was there to let me in/answer the 24 hour phone number, but, sounds like it is not a regular occurrence and the staff was actually really nice. I got the family studio suite and while we weren’t a full family (just us two), it seemed like something could fit four. It was spacious with a dining table and all of the kitchen equipment. The room was definitely a bit dated, but it was clean and the beds were decent. The shower was nice and hot! I wouldn’t call it fancy , but it did the job!"
