It is a beautiful, rustic property. Very comfortable accommodations and a great staff. Thoughtful bed and breakfast set up. They have various activities, very relaxing as well.
I haven’t felt this rested in a very long time. Staff was amazing, accommodations were just what you’d expect from a ranch but better! Will definitely return with the entire family.
Excellent example of a true ranch, not something put together for tourists. Lots of historical background. Our European visitors had requested that our sightseeing trip include a real western U.S. ranch. This was perfect and they loved it!
We enjoyed this cozy and welcoming resort that had great food and a relaxed ambience. We didn’t ride but heard that the riding was excellent. The hiking was good. Happy hour food was provided and sometimes there were cookies to enjoy. There was no housekeeping during our stay which was fine with us.
Absolutely beautiful location. Horses, birds, all kinds of stunning flora and fauna around. It was quiet and peaceful, someone always available for questions or whatever. It is off a dirt road ( little tricky on our motorcycles), but the location added to its charm. Rooms are comfy and clean and the food was really good! We didn’t take advantage of the activities they had to offer, horseback riding etc, but I’d love to go back again and try it someday.
I loved the Western/ranch atmosphere. For me, it was perfect. There were no TVs, and the lodge rooms couldn't be locked from the outside...no key! It made you feel like you were part of a big family. The food was excellent. We met people from all over the world. We didn't ride horses, but took a UTV tour and did some shooting. The wranglers were very helpful, and it was so interesting learning about their way of life. Note: Check the schedule. Not every activity is offered every day.
The dude ranch experience was unexpected and fun. We were looking for a 3 day stay at a traditional motel to visit family. Staff was very attentive and freindly. While we didn't do many activities the environment was a great deal of fun. The great room (joint living room) with fireplace was realy special.
THe chef was excellent each meal was so delious and unque in many ways.
The beds do need upgrading particularly for seniors.
They need to tend to some safety issues as many of the outside ground lights were not working making it hazardous to walk the walk ways after dark.
You can’t beat the location to find out what living on a real Arizona ranch might be like. Wonderful staff, fun guests to meet, delicious and plentiful food (thank you chefs!). Large grounds to walk around and plenty of daily activities such as horseback riding, archery and shooting right here onsite, perfect even for beginners, though experts will have a fine time too. The lodge is gorgeous with a big fireplace and lots of artifacts, some from the original 1908 homestead I imagine. We were awarded the first and only day of rain since August, and were thankful to see how the plants and terrain adjusted.
We especially give a shout out to Kaitlin and her husband Justin for their warm hospitality and helpfulness, and all the others were lovely too. There happened to be a glitch in the heating system one morning, but the staff and their expert vendors had it completely resolved by dinner time, very prompt and “on it!”
Lots of important skills here. You will have a wonderful time, and they will take good care of you.
Wonderful experience in an historic guest ranch. The ranch is old, which accounts for the great vibe it has. It could use some room updates in the way of painting and bedding refresh, perhaps, but I was very comfortable and enjoyed my two night stay. Food was great.
We had a wonderful stay at Kay El Bar guest ranch. We highly recommend the horse riding experience -- we were total beginners and they made us feel really at ease. We loved the communal dining for meals and the food was a real highlight as each meal was so delicious! Would recommend opting in for lunch and dinner as they are excellent value for money given the high quality of the meals.
Really enjoyed Kay El Bar. Nothing fancy. Spent two nights. Meals were great, and although we didn’t ride, this is a real ranch with a great old west vibe!
I would like Snickers in snacks or beef sticks. TV in common area would be good. Otherwise, great.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
We enjoyed morning horse riding, but the breakfast and dinners options can be better. Need add more tasty and variety food. Also, a bed can be more comfortable. Price and quality are not equal. Should be cheaper night stay, or make updates.

Not for the feint of heart. Probably good for ranch experience
There was no hot spa available. There was no archery available. The horse ride was cute but more like a horse walk. Cute but I have seen better horse ranches than this one... The staff are definitely amazing people. But after no working hot spa and a phone about their archery range and their rules about archery, I later find out that there is no archery available at all... Not the greatest place to stay, you may want to find another place; so if you are reading this continue looking for another place to stay. Best of luck!
